PART-TIME BUILDING MAINTENANCE CUSTODIAN

The City of South Portland, is seeking a part-time (20 hours) Parks & Recreation Department Building Maintenance Custodian to join an innovative, proactive and dynamic workforce with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in municipal service.

This is a non-union position performing a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks at the South Portland Community Center and other recreation facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a full range of custodial and light maintenance activities. Duties include but not limited to sweeping, vacuuming, stripping, waxing, and polishing floors, empting trash and swimming pool maintenance. The applicant is responsible for setting up and taking down tables and chairs for meetings, recreation equipment for various programs and also adjusts and sets up equipment in the gym for events. The work schedule will be 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM Friday, Saturday, Monday and 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM on Sunday. The City has a generous benefit package that this position is eligible for. The individual will need reliable transportation and a current Maine driver’s license in order to travel to different municipal buildings as the position requires.

High school diploma or GED required.
