ISASC 32ND CONVENTION PORTLAND, OREGON
May 20th to 24th, 2010
Dear Member,
Portland, known as the “City of Roses”, is our hometown and we are proud to invite you to share all it has to offer. It has a historic old town, many galleries, museums, parks and a waterfront with outdoor cafes, river walks and marinas. Just a short distance away is the spectacular Columbia Gorge and magnificent Mt. Hood. The ruggedly beautiful Oregon coast and the Cascade Mountains are easily accessible from the city. We invite each of you to come to the 32nd ISASC Convention and extend your stay to enjoy the city and the surrounding area.
We have spent the last year putting together a terrific convention for everyone to enjoy. Thursday night will be your introduction to the area with a look back at the significance of the Oregon Trail and its history. You will dine overlooking the second largest waterfall in the country.
On Friday you will have your choice of tours showcasing two unique Portland attractions. One tour takes you to the Evergreen Aviation Museum with the Spruce Goose being the focal point of a grand collection of over 80 planes and associated memorabilia to explore at your own pace. If you want more, chose the other tour, which in addition to Evergreen Aviation Museum will include the Pittock Mansion showing off the grandeur of early urban life in Portland.
Monday is an experience not to be missed. We will spend the day exploring Mount St. Helens Volcanic National Monument. The events and repercussions of that day are still being felt and this is a tremendous opportunity to learn more about this historic event and how it affects our future.
Of course, all the fun features that hallmark our conventions will fill up the weekend—the Silent Auction and “Let’s Make a Deal”, a varied program on scale-related information, the gala Saturday night banquet, Show and Tell and the collectors get-together and album sharing.
So make plans to come and join your fellow “scalies” for a memorable time in Portland.
