Job Title: Labor Supervisor

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent

Job Summary:

RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING AND SUPERVISING ACTIVITIES TO MAINTAIN PLANT GROUNDS AND EQUIPMENT.

Essential Functions:

Supervise plant attendant crews in performance of a variety of maintenance duties pertaining to plant grounds and equipment.

Plan, layout, assign and prioritize work schedules.

Instruct personnel as to methods and procedures to perform tasks.

Inspect grounds and equipment and initiates corrective action if necessary.

Consult with superiors regarding preventive maintenance program.

Initiate work order requests and various reports.

Train maintenance personnel as to methods and procedures, standards of performance, and other factors affecting work.

Supervise the operation of heavy equipment such as, tractors, trucks cranes, lift trucks and back hoes.

Maintain daily activity log and other maintenance records.

Communicate with vendors, operations and engineering personnel regarding equipment specifications and purchases.

Schedule repair and service on maintenance equipment.

Assist with annual budget preparation.

Evaluate personnel performance. Recommend hires, promotions and disciplinary actions.

Enforce prescribed safety rules and regulations and observe safe work practices.

Supervise and participate in maintenance of Plant grounds and equipment.

Maintain records.

Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.

Interpret technical manuals, drawings and specifications including layouts, blueprints and schematics.

Perform other duties as necessary.

Non-Essential Functions:

NONE.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education: High school or trade school diploma or equivalent. Shop courses desirable.

Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years experience in the maintenance of plant

grounds and equipment.

Specific skills: Knowledge of rigging techniques and operation of heavy plant and grounds equipment. Some knowledge of the techniques of effective supervision.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc:

Valid Class I state of Ohio Wastewater Operator Certificate desirable.

Class A commercial driver's license with no endorsements issued by the State of Ohio and a driving record in accordance with the District’s insurance carrier.

Working Conditions:

Working in a plant environment. Up to 50% of the time out doors, or in contaminated, dirty environments or in confined spaces with machine vibration and personal protective equipment.

Physical Demands

Frequent walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing and standing within the plant. No facial hair that would impede the use of breathing apparatus.

Interfaces:

Internal: Interfaces with District personnel throughout the organization.

External: Minimal
