Hematologically – a relative lymphocytic leukocytosis w/ atypical lymphocytes & a positive heterophile test (increased) Heterophile agglutination test greater than 1:128. EBV commonly produces a positive heterophile Ab test. After 1 week, many pts develop heterophile Ab/s, which peak at 2-5 wks – may persist for several months to 1 yr ................
