Job Description

Job Title: Attendance Clerk-High School

Reports To: School Principal

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Months per Year: 10 months

Starting Rate of Pay: Classified Level 3

Summary Compiles attendance records for school district by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Operates and maintains office equipment.

Maintains accurate records of student attendance daily in Power School

Codes reasons for student's absences and tardies and file documentation accordingly

Registers new students to campus and acquires transfer files from other schools

Prepares documents for students that withdraw from school

Prepares truancy files for students not meeting attendance requirements and submits them to Family Resource Liaison

Creates attendance reports as requested

Assists other office staff with answering phones, greeting the public and other routine activities as needed

Performs duties such as filing.

Prepares special reports such as ethnicity, gender, and grade reports for the state

Collects monies from staff for breakfast and lunches

Sends cash/ticket log report to business manager and student lunch count to cafeteria

Arranges for substitute teachers

Provides substitute teachers with proper paperwork and materials for their classes

Prints report cards and transcripts. Mails them to parents and guardians

Provides students with early dismissal notices i.e., fall and spring breads and holidays.

Trains student aides each period in accordance with acquiring vocational credits.

Disburses mail to teachers

Verifies all student files are up to date and complete

Oversees the application process, enrollment, and attendance of transfer students

Ensures that all students are properly coded for special destination (at-risk, medications, special ed)

Assists with Power School when admin. asst. is gone.

Attends trainings as required

Supervises office student aides

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and must possess original document

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software and Power School software

Possess current valid AZ driver's license
