POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES

Possessive Adjectives set the tone

for us to talk about what we own.

Mi is “my”

Nuestro/Nuestra, “our”

Tu = “your”,

but wait, there’s more!

Su = “his, her, their, your,” - all four!

Singular PA’s are used to express

“our mom”, “his book”, and even

“my dress”!

To make a PA plural, just add an “s”-

“our moms”, “his books”, and

“my dresses”

are what a person now expresses!

The Possessive Adjectives Game

(on next page)

This is a really fun, easy game to play with your students. First, put your students into partners.

Second, hand out a set of dice to each pair. (I prefer the small foam ones as they don’t make noise). Third, each

partner will roll their dice. Partner 1 will roll for the LEFT side and Partner 2 will roll for the RIGHT side. For

example, if Partner 1 rolls a #1 and Partner 2 rolls a #5, then they must write down the corresponding phrase

“my class”. Then, they must translate that phrase into English. There are 30 possibilities, so the game can go

as long as you would like. (I usually tell my students that they and their partner must have 10 translations.) If

Partner 1 rolls a #6, I usually tell them that they can pick anything from 1-5 since there is no #6 on that side.
