Office Resource Kit technical reference

First, an echo request is sent to the IP address acquired from the list, say 10.10.25.125. Then, it enters a loop, and each time it generates two new IP addresses it sends an echo request to both. These IP addresses are formed by first adding and then subtracting 1 to the last octet (i.e. 10.10.25.126 and 10.10.25.124 are formed). ................
