PPC-1 Update #2*

? PIPE International obtains Australian Landing Permit ? Terrestrial works scheduled to commence

PIPE International (Australia) Pty Ltd, a fully-owned subsidiary of PIPE Networks Limited (ASX:PWK), received notification yesterday from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) that it has been granted approval to install a submarine cable (PPC-1) in the northern submarine cable protection zone in Sydney, Australia.

As noted in our previous update, this is a key permit necessary to install the PPC-1 system and allows PIPE International to commence works in preparation for the cable's installation and Australian landing in first-half 2009. This permit has been issued under the worlds best practice regime instituted by the ACMA and the Company has found the process to be a fast and efficient process.

"This is great news and a credit to both our team and the ACMA in instituting the submarine cable protection zones allowing the expedient approval of cables within these zones." said PIPE Networks CEO, Bevan Slattery.

This approval allows PIPE International to proceed with planned works to build the terrestrial network connecting our landing station to the beach manhole and then out to the ocean in preparation for the cable's installation. Works on the horizontal directional drilling to the ocean is currently scheduled to start in May 2008, with completion and commissioning of the PPC-1 system scheduled for June 2009.
