Round a given whole number, 9,999 or less, to the nearest ten, hundred, and thousand. Solve problems, using rounding of numbers, 9,999 or less, to the nearest ten, hundred, and thousand. -teacher observation during spiraled review-white board warmups, teacher created on a daily basis based on student performance on previous pre and post assessments. (usually five questions)-Jefferson Lab 3rd Grade Math (google it) also used to help create warmups-Grade level created summative assessment.-Class assignments-Two rounding smart notebooks activities-We teach several approaches to rounding, including a number line and the visualization of a “hill” that the students can use to round to the appropriate place value. --Playing card games to help students practice rounding numbers. (students deal out a number and round it to a particular value)-Worksheets from -ixl math (go into state standards tab and select specific skills)DIFFERENTIATIONHow will you meet the needs of all students?RESOURCESTEACHER NOTES:-Grouped by ability (staggered, not high/med/low)-Differentiate by the amount of problems assigned-Multiple approaches taught to help different learning styles.-Extra support during power-up and cub time.-Attached smart notebook files.
