grew up in a Christian family. My Biological father, Samuel Ogunsure Falobi (1927-2003) of blessed memory, was a Missionary who was actively involved in the establishment of several branches of The Apostolic Church in various parts of Nigeria, during his lifetime. Mum, Janet Oluwafunmilayo up till now is a Deaconess in my native towns’ District Headquarters of that same Church. I was therefore fortunate to have a Christian upbringing. I remember Daddy always insisted all the Children attend the Sunday service, while Mummy also ensured we participated actively in all other week days Church programmes.
I was a Church-goer but not born again. I was almost getting born again around the ages of 7-9, when I suddenly developed a passion for Christian Literatures, which I ordered from Christian ministries. It was a zeal that was soon choked by thorns, as in those days becoming an S.U. (a pseudonym for being a born again) was a social stigma. I left home temporarily in 1984 at the age of 17 and spent the next four years pursuing a University degree. During my undergraduate years, my tender and feeble roots in Christianity practically died off as I enjoyed my new ‘freedom’. Not that I was into any of the popular vices, as a matter of fact I was a moralist but could count the number of times I attended a Christian gathering, whether a Church or fellowship. If I was merely a Churchgoer during my kid/teenage years, I was now a nominal Christian. But the grace of God was on me, and things went well. I even achieved national prominence during my undergraduate days on account of my involvement in Student Unionism. On graduation, I did the compulsory National Youth Service Corps in a leading Oil Company- a dream posting by all reckoning.
However, that was the end of the successes of my early years. In retrospect, I never knew that at this point of my life, Satan wanted me to come and make a covenant with him if I wanted to ‘succeed’ in every thing I lay my hands on thereon. God, my creator was also beckoning me to become more committed to Him, so that He could see me through life, with His love and power. Hitherto, God’s Grace had seen me through my adolescent years, but I needed to walk in the grace of God for His grace to be sustained.
I never knew that Christians are not justified by their morality, but by the grace of God and atoning sacrifice of His blameless son, Jesus Christ. No man can afford to be both for, and against Jesus Christ. No man can be in the middle of the road. Our heavenly father’s wish is that every man is in good health and prosperous in life. “ For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” Jer 29:10-11 KJV. But Satan is in this world to hinder this heavenly plan:

Satan’s main target is born again Christians, on whom he unleashes various kinds of demons in order to thwart their destiny. Satan’s next target are middle roaders like I was, this category of people would be susceptible to various attacks until they either run to God or covenant with Satan. For the avoidance of doubt, any one who is not a born again Christian, is consciously or unconsciously in covenant with Satan. The moment you confess the Lordship and Messiaship of Jesus Christ, this covenant becomes broken. Those who have made a covenant with Satan quite early, enjoy the heavenly blessing God has originally prepared for them. It is important to note that Satan does not have any blessing at his disposal he gives to people. What he does is to temporarily refrain from attacking those who have covenanted with him, thereby leaving them to enjoy God’s blessing. This category of people would be succeeding in almost every thing they do, and people would wonder why these wicked people and unbelievers are prospering, while they, the righteous are facing vicissitudes and crises. The Bible warns Christians not to envy the prosperity of the wicked, because destruction lies ahead of them.

I
started experiencing curious, unfortunate occurrences towards the end of my National Youth Service year. I thought I was just unlucky; never knew it was the Ancient Serpent that had started bruising me. I applied to be retained in the Oil Company where I served, and was short-listed for the employment interview. Curiously, the invitation letter for the interview never got to me up till now, almost twenty years later, in spite of the fact that the letter were sent by Courier! Coincidentally, I walked into the Oil Company on a casual visit on the day slated for the interview, and was interviewed with others. I learnt I came tops in the interview scoring about 78% and another letter inviting for the final interview was dispatched to me by courier. I received that letter about two weeks after the second interview was held!
• That was how I lost the dream job of working in leading Oil Company. On investigation, I learnt that somebody delayed the postage of my interview letter because he had a candidate. I attributed the occurrences to ill luck. But now I know better, it was the Serpent that was at work. The devil had his candidate. I was neither God’s candidate nor the devil’s. Miracles do not happen by chance.
That was the beginning. Afterwards, I tried becoming self-employed. Had great vision and was imbued with great ideas. I laid my hands on various businesses and ventures. They all ended in failures, bankruptcy and redundancies. I worked hard with all my youthful energies, but had nothing to show for it materially. I struggled with all my strength, but had no fruits to show for my efforts. Along the line I had the peculiar fortune of securing political appointments was a Special Assistant to a Local Government Chairman (akin to a Mayor) in 1993, to another three years later, Press Secretary to a Nigeria’s Federal Minister in 1996, a Consultant to the defunct Petroleum Special Trust Fund, (a Federal parastatal that was allocated a percentage of Nigeria’s Oil money to implement de4velopment projects) with in 1998, and Chief Press Secretary to the Senate President (the Head of Nigeria’s National Parliament and Politically the No 3 person in the country) in 2001. Moreover, along the line I had worked as a Personal aide to several highly placed Nigerians including a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and the Head of a West African Governmental organization. But the spirit of failure at the end of breakthroughs always set in. Not that I was ever sacked, as a matter of fact my various bosses still hold me in high esteem on account of my diligence. In most of these appointments, I was deliberately denied the enjoyment of the privileges of the positions, and in fact my remunerations were either not paid at all or/and short paid.
As mentioned earlier during this period, I was just a nominal Christian but with high moral virtues. But my morality was really an impediment to prospering in a worldly way, yet I needed the Grace and the Anointing, not morality to prosper in a Godly way. I was ignorantly caught in the middle of the road. I was neither serving God nor Satan wholeheartedly. Soon poverty set in, epileptic employment was a trademark of my career, debt became a friend, stagnancy and failure became the hallmark of my business life, and diseases particularly malaria became a bi- weekly occurrence. During this period, I spent five years staying in a small room apartment in a typical Lagos bungalow. Even to pay the One hundred per month (less than a dollar a month) house rent became a difficulty.
I managed to put a second hand car on the road, few months afterwards the car crashed on the expressway in a mysterious circumstance I can not explain up till now. I was not speeding, but the Car hit the road divider along one of the popular expressways in Lagos Nigeria, the fuel tank burst in the process, and was lucky not to be consumed in an inferno that would had engulfed the car. Few months later I sold the car as a scrap losing over two-thirds it’s worth in the process. I tried pursuing a Masters degree, passed all the course work in the first year, but on two consecutive years I could not print it out the thesis from the Workstation I used in typing it. The document could not just be opened from both the hard disk and the diskette where a copy was saved. By the time I eventually retyped the thesis in the third year on a different Computer, and printed it out I was told my Masters programme had lapsed.
Interestingly my friends who were in the ‘world’ were ‘succeeding’ in all fronts. They were even helping one another, and supporting themselves up. They could not help me as much as they should because I was not following them around- partying, womanizing, smoking, and drinking. I was lonely and frustrated. I spent long hours thinking about how I could make it and succeed. Thrice the thought of committing suicide flashed my mind, but dismissed the ideas deciding to give life one more trial. Maybe, my next move may just click. I never knew I was in captivity, caged by forces more powerful than me.

y Vicissitudes climaxed in 1995.Satan passed his boundary in my life by afflicting me with severe headache and malaria. The affliction lingered for about six months, every two weeks I must be down with Malaria and I soon developed resistance to common malaria drugs and was placed on quinine. The headache was intermittent during the day. Whenever it occurred I felt severe pain. I was living with migraine daily.
Satan never knew God was watching over me in spite of my halfhearted Christianity. Sometimes in 1995, God remembered me and sent a Deeper Life brother on evangelism mission to me. I did not give my life to Christ, but requested the brother to pray with me over the headache. He prayed for healing, and to my amazement the six-month headache ceased about 30 minutes afterwards.
It was a miracle I personally experienced and I did not need somebody else’s validation that there is power in the name of Jesus Christ. All throughout my Christian life, I
had never experienced such power of God. I was touched by my healing and decided to make a personally discovery of God, and His Son Jesus Christ.
The first step I took thereafter was to purchase a copy of the Holy Bible and decided to read it through. I wanted to know more about God. I did not want to base my conversion to born again Christian on somebody else’s witness. I wanted to be convinced that Jehovah is the Almighty. I finished reading through the Bible for the first time on my 29th birthday, December 6,1995. The Bible makes an interesting reading, no wonder it is the highest selling book on the earth. No body can go through this Holy Book with an open mind without getting fully attached to God. And I believe every Christian should desire to read the Bible at least once during their his/her lifetime, how do you serve God if you have not fully read His plan and purpose for mankind? The Bible won me over to Christ. Over the years I have fallen in love with it and have read it through six times now. It is my greatest companion, and has various versions of it on my Personal computer, in audio format as ‘ Bible in cassette’, and in printed format.
In August 1996, I got married to lovely Bukola and changed my accommodation to a more comfortable three-bed room flat in the outskirts of Lagos. Within the neighbourhood I joined a Pentecostal Church, The World Overcomers Church, founded by Evangelist Steve K. Pelemo, a man well grounded in the word of God; I was more or less a ‘new convert’, and was taught basic principles of holiness and righteousness during the Church’s programmes particularly the weekly Tuesday Bible Study. My membership of the Church, for over eight years now has been spiritually stimulating. Every sermon from the Pulpit seems to be specifically directed at my situation- either as a prophecy, a word of encouragement or rebuke. I believe the Holy Spirit has a plan and purpose for bringing me to the Church to mold my spiritual life and be part of the vision of the body of Christ.
I became fully born again within months of my membership of the Church. Then the Satanic attacks started. Sensing he had lost the battle for my soul, the Serpent began attacking me physically. Before the attacks were on my jobs and businesses. Now it was combined with physically attacks. The first occurred around mid March 1997. I suddenly developed whooping cough coupled with intense sneezing. The ailment occurred during odd hours- 1am, 3am, and at times during the day. I would suddenly start coughing continuously for duration of not less than an hour, and would also be intermittently sneezing. Any time I sneezed, I would splash my surrounding with saliva, my chest would ache, and had to practice fermentation (using hot cloth to massage my chest). I used different cough medicines, at a point I was drinking bottles of cough syrup like water, yet no respite, neither did I had any side effect of over dosage.. I took about 12 injections of streptomycin, but the ailment worsened and I became `extremely sensitive to smoke. As a result I found it difficult to stay in any location, and was moving from one street to another as I became extremely uncomfortable anytime I inhale the slightest fume.
Did I contact an infection? I went to a General Hospital where a Medical Doctor asked: “Are you asthmatic? Do you smoke?” “No”. I answered”. “You are lying”, he retorted. “You are not likely to have this ailment if you are not a smoker”. He prescribed antibiotic various drugs including- Amoxicillin normally used to treat Typhoid. I used all the dosage with no respite.

n March 31st, 1997, I started coughing and sneezing around 6pm. By 8p.m. it had not abated. I had lost strength. Coughing and sneezing continuously for two hours is better imagined than experienced. The night hour was drawing nearer. It occurred to me that if this malady continues, as it seemed it would, I might give up the Ghost during the night. I summoned strength and went to a nearby Chemist shop that was about closing. The attendant, a staff Nurse gave me a sleep-inducing drug, whose name I can’t remember now, but also recommended I should contact my Church Pastor for prayers. This option that eventually saved my life, had never occurred to me. It was around 8.30 p.m. Will I meet any Pastor in the Church? At the same time I was afraid of going home-fearing complications that may arose. I went to the Church in the hope I might meet somebody to pray with me. God was with me.
Proverbs 18:10 states:
The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe
One of the Associate Pastors, James Pelemo was just about leaving for home; actually he had closed the Church’s main gate. I recounted my ordeal and he prayed very briefly for my healing. I went home with faith for my healing and refused to use the drug prescribed by the Nurse.
Unknown to me I had experienced a deliverance through Pastor James’ very brief prayer. It manifested few hours later. Around 2am the following day, I suddenly woke up from my sleep drenched in my sweat. My brain brought back memories of a dream I just had, in which my wife, child and I, overcame somebody who accused me of killing her witchcraft goat. What is the meaning of this dream I asked myself? While I was meditating in this dream, I remembered that usually the ailment wakes me up at night and I would immediately start coughing and sneezing for at least an hour. I noticed I wasn’t Coughing or Sneezing since I woke up. I tried inducing the cough and sneeze but was unsuccessful. I immediately realized the implication of the witchcraft goat my household had killed in the spirit realm. I had experienced a miracle. The satanic cough and sneezing was gone forever. I woke up my wife and we both celebrated in Praise and Worship.

his deliverance confirmed to me beyond all doubts that ultimate power belongs to Jesus. He is the Lord over all other powers. I was mad with the Devil in the name of Jesus Christ. I realized that I had been in his captivity all the while, and he is now attacking me now that I am moving closer to Christ. I decided to serve God henceforth with all my strength and might; and used every opportunity to ‘bruise’ the head of the Serpent believing that Jesus is by my side and more than able to fight for me and give me victory.
In unison with my elder brother, Dr Tayo Babalobi, a Lecturer in the University of Ibadan, in Nigeria, who was also undergoing similar wilderness experiences I did a baptismal of my Surname, dumping the former one- IFALOBI, (meaning born of Ifa, a demonic oracle in Yorubaland, an ethnic group on Nigeria), to BABALOBI,(meaning born of the Heavenly father). The name change was a strategic spiritual blow to Satan and his gods, and intended to cut off all linkages to evil family altars. By the way, our paternal grandfather was an Ifa Priest, and during his lifetime was the Head of the Ogboni (a satanic cult) in Ijeshaland, in Yoruba speaking ethnic group of Nigeria. My elder brother and I reasoned that he (our grandfather- Ifalobi) must have covenanted his offspring to the Ifa demonic oracle. Any of my names should not give Glory to this demonic oracle, I reasoned, God says His Glory would He not share with anyone.
My elder brother and I also noticed a spirit of poverty, failures, stunted breakthroughs and Old age sicknesses tormented almost all the elderly members of our extended family. The change of surname was therefore also intended to cut off the negative influence of ancestral spirits and family spirits over our households.
In latter years, I realized that the decision to change the surname was wise as the Holy Spirit revealed to me that the spiritual attacks I was facing was due to my desire to be freed from the stronghold of evil family altars and cults. Shortly after the change of Surname in 1997, I faced a major satanic attack that spanned about five years. The publication of this book marks my complete deliverance and restoration. More importantly, the lessons and experiences I learnt during my deliverance process form the knowledge base of this book:
He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze .You give me your shield of victory; you stoop down to make me great- 2 Sam 22:35-36
I
woke up at dawn on July 31st 1997, and felt a bird like creature had just touched my right leg and flew away. I felt an unusual sensation and heaviness on the leg and woke my household to pray for me. Few hours later, I felt strange movements in my body, the feeling was of a snake like creature crawling inside my body, in the leg, buttocks, chest, arms, and the head. It was a painful, prickly and fearful experience. What was this? I could not fathom what I was passing through. Had I contract a mysterious disease? Is it AIDS? How possibly? I watched during the next few days whether the strange movements would stop. But wherever I was- in the house, in the vehicle or office it continued. One day I was in the house, and the strange movements became intense, I removed all the clothes on my body in the hope that I would discover the strange snake. I was almost overcome by fear and thought of running out to the street in exasperation. At that point it occurred to me that anybody who sees me naked on the street would not believe my story of strange movements, but would rather think I had run mad. I restraint myself and remained indoors as I realised that Satan wanted to turn me into a madman. I consulted my Pastor, Evangelist S.k. Pelemo who counseled me to resist the devil in line with 1 Peter 5:8-9:
• Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world KJV
I started resisting the devil by standing on the word of God backed with intense prayers. To my pleasant surprise, anytime I prayed the strange movements stopped. I was happy that the affliction responded to prayers, indicating that it was not a medical affliction but a spiritual attack. I quickly complied several warfare Scriptures that I chanted several times a day. The Psalms dealing with warfare were particularly helpful and I memorized and confessed several of them all day. As stated earlier, this satanic attacks occurred daily over about five years 1997-2002, I experienced my deliverance gradually over the same period of time as I applied various scriptural principles. In the next pages, I summarised the various nature of the attack, and steps I took to ensure my divine deliverance.
The Satanic attack manifested in various forms including the following:
1. A snake like creature crawling inside various parts of my body as mentioned earlier. Occasionally, I also felt a snake like movement around my body.
2. A Spirit jerking me. At times when I sat in the room a force would push forward my head from behind.
3. Invisible Sharp objects like a nail or Screwdriver being pierced through my skull and eyes. This is the most painful experience and I believe it was aimed at injuring my brain and eyesight.
4. I often felt evil spirits moving in and out of into my nostrils. These objects seemed to be insects.
5. Evil spirits that seemed like rats and cats crawling around my foot. This usually occurs in the evenings in my sitting room.
6. Evil spirit birds bouncing all over my head. This is also a very traumatic experience as the evil birds turn my head into a football field.
7. Insect like evil spirits itching my face and my body. This is really indescribable, but it is akin to a Malaria patient reacting to a dosage of Chloroquine.
8. Oppressive attack during my sleep almost on a daily basis. Pressure will be exerted on my chest in an attempt to stuff off my breath. There was a particular day my skull was pressed and in the spirit I felt my brain protruding out of its skull. To His glory I woke up hale and hearty.
9. Evil noises in my ear immediately I lie down to sleep.
⎫ I have recounted the above not to glorify the Serpent, or to portray him as very powerful, but in order to expose all the lies of the enemy in a bid to cower my spirit. The fact that I am alive today without any deformity as a result of all these attacks shows that they are lies of the devil intended to instill fear into me and cause me to backslide or seek false treatment from Satanic sources.
Of course, the devil is wicked but children of God have the power to overcome all his antics. Greater is He that is in us than is in the world. The Bible says that in this life we shall have troubles, but we should fear not because He has overcome the world. Another passage says that God would not allow the trouble that we could not bear to come on us. Job was a blameless man, yet he suffered afflictions. Paul was a man full of the power of the Holy Ghost, yet God allowed an evil spirit to torment him. How was I able to overcome all these attacks, which were occurring on a daily basis over a span of over five years?

ou dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world -1John 4:4
1. First and most importantly, I had an unwavering Trust in GOD. As a result of the earlier deliverances I experienced from the spirit of migraine and cough/sneezing, I had an unwavering belief that Jesus is Lord, that He is the Head of all powers, and that he would ultimately deliver me from all afflictions as long as I walk in His grace.
2. I refused to be afraid or fearful knowing fully well that it is God that has allowed the devil to afflict me in order to train my hands for battle. The Holy Spirit gave me a scripture in this regard. ’It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decree’: Ps 19:71
At a point I was enjoying the attacks as it enabled me to search the Scriptures further to discover weapons of warfare unknown to me to neutralise my afflictions. I also believe the degree of my persecution is an indication of the degree of my impending promotions in Jesus name.
3. I compiled several warfare scriptures which I memorized and confessed several times a day. The Holy Spirit specifically told me to memorise by heart the whole of 2 Samuel 22, which I recited at times twice, or more daily. Most of the other Scriptures I stood on are in Chapter seven of this book.
4. I found the Psalms as the most effective weapon to neutralize these attacks. The Psalms were immensely valuable as they recounted the vicissitudes and victories of King David. I memorized several Psalms including Psalm 1, 27, and 91. For about two years at the height of the attacks, I made it a point to read Psalms 1-Psalm 91 daily before I sleep. As I read these Psalms usually experienced personal deliverances. As stated earlier, I experienced various strange movements in my body and oppressive attacks during sleep. As labourious as reading all these Psalms may be, I had no other option but to read them as I was not guaranteed a good night sleep if I did not. It usually took about an hour to go through the Psalms.
5. Dry Fasting- two-three days without food or water was the weapon I used to neutralize the attacks of sharp objects piercing through my skull. I was taught the power in dry fasting by Pastor Godwin Akogun was then of The World Overcomers Church. He said to me one day that I must do something supernatural if I desire a supernatural experience. I scaled up my Spiritual warfare to counter the evil reinforcement against my life. I also engaged in other forms of fasting. It is of note that I experienced a mighty visitation of the power of the Holy Ghost, which heralded my deliverance from evil bondages, immediately I ended a 40 days marathon fasting programme in 2002.
6. Continuous Night Vigils. At the beginning of the attacks, I experienced oppressive attacks while sleeping. Consequently I decided to be holding night vigils in order to neutralize the enemy during the dark hours. Habitually, I still wake up most nights to pray as I discover that the attacks reoccur if I do not pray for few days.
7. Praying in lonely places, on the mountain and various spirit filled prayer retreat was also spiritually empowering. The power of God is always extraordinarily present in those gatherings.
8. Attending various spirit filled deliverance programmes organized by my local Church and at times other Bible believing Churches was also helpful.
I know quite number Churches where the word of God is reached in deed and in truth, discourage their members from attending programmes organised by other Churches even when such other Churches are known to be also Bible believing Churches. The explanation is that this is akin to Church prostitution. This attitude of such Church Leaders is best described as ‘Spiritual’, an obsessive desire to completely influence, control, and dominate the lives of the congregation. I discovered different ‘true’ Ministers of God have peculiar anointing and calling. And the gifts and Power of the Holy Ghost are liberally spread among His servants. A Minister of God may say- at this is very true in most cases- that he was anointed by the Holy Spirit to make people prosper, another may say his ministry is to set the captives free, another may say his calling is to raise up intercessors, yet another may say he was specifically divinely called as an Evangelist to preach the message of salvation to the Gentiles. My recommendation is that: “Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called” –1Cor 7:20 While a Christian should be known and be identified with a particular Bible believing Church, where he should actively serve the Lord, he or she should avail himself or herself the opportunity of being blessed through special programmes organised by other Bible believing Churches - as the Holy Spirit leads or directs him or her.
In this regard, I found the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry of Dr D.K.Olukoya very relevant to what I was going through spiritually. Though his Church is often criticized in some quarters for what seems to be the over concentration on its prayers on deliverance from ‘enemies’, I discovered that this ministry has a peculiar and unique anointing to ‘set the captives’, and I availed myself of this anointing at times by divine instruction.
9. I found the Holy Spirit to be my greatest friend in affliction, my confidant in trouble, my motivator in depression, and my sustainer in hopelessness and despair. He always urged me to stand firm in faith, revealed to me the nature of the attacks and the strategies and tactics I must deploy to overcome the enemy. Without the guidance of the Holy Spirit, there was no way I would have overcame the Serpent.
10. Intense, violent, continuously aggressive prayers effectively paralyzed the activities of the Serpent in my life. The Holy Spirit made me to understand the need for a sustained assault against the powers of darkness illustrating this with the American- Iraq war of the early 90’s and in the new millennium. In spite of the military superiority of the American nation over Iraq, the former could not conquer the latter overnight. It took two long drawn invasions by allied forces before Iraq was subdued. In that same manner Christians must deploy ‘allied weapons of warfare’ (the blood of Jesus, the Word of God, Prayers and Fasting, Praise and Worship, Gift offerings, Evangelism and the like) to totally overcome the enemy. Just like the American led allied forces desisted from quiting Iraq until the powers of both the arrow head and the cronies of the fallen Saddam Hussein led government was effectively clipped and neutralised, Christians must not relax, rest or go to sleep, until they completely subdue and overcome the powers of darkness tormenting their lives. If you lead a sustained aggression against the Serpent, you will subdue him, and put him under your feet, just like the way the United States led allied forces caught former Iraq President Sadam Hussein like a rat in side a hole.
Like I mentioned earlier, the attacks stopped every time I prayed aggressively and offensively sending every evil arrow back to the sender. It is also important to note that there are specific prayers that need to be said for specific problems. These prayers can only be known by revelation of the Holy Spirit.
I thank God for my prayer life in 2001/2002 when I normally pray aggressively for up to five hours non stop daily after which the Holy Spirit would reveal mysteries to me and also give me specific prayer points. At a time the Holy Spirit told to me to pray against attacks by the Spirit of Yemoja. I never took the instruction serious, not knowing what the spirit of Yemoja was all about, until I read in “Lampstand Letters’ a Christian Pamphlet published by my elder brother, Dr Tayo Babalobi that ‘Yemoja” is a demon god, in fact the Head goddess of all Yoruba gods. Therefore, deliverance prayers can only come by revelation.
10. Praise and Worship is perhaps the
most potent weapon of wading off the enemy.
Anytime I faced any of these attacks, the Holy
Spirit would instructto Praise Him. As soon as I obeyed this simple instruction,
the evil spirits fled. I had an unforgettable experience the first occasion I
engaged in Praise and Worship for three continuous hours. I experienced a
mighty visitation of the Holy Spirit afterwards, and started carrying the
presence of God in a higher
dimension thereafter. My eventual deliverance was through this power of Holy
Ghost that came on me that fateful day as He has been shaking off every evil
presence round me.
11. Praying in the Holy Ghost is also a very effective weapon. To
overcome the attacks, the Holy Spirit particularly empowered mewith the gift to pray with ease in tongues for several hours, at times for up to six hours. This was one of the weapons I used .At the height of the attacks I was always muttering, speaking in tongues for as many hours as possible. People may regard you as a mad person by the time they see you always muttering you lips, but I assure you that you need to become mad in the Holy Ghost before Satan will leave you alone. When you speak in tongues you are charging out the spiritual atmosphere for the movement of the Holy Ghost making it impossible for evil arrows to penetrate you. I learnt through the Holy Spirit that there is no problem or difficulty, either infinitesimal or gargantuan that could not be resolved by inviting the presence of God through Praying in the Holy Ghost.

001and 2002 were the years of my deliverance from the power of the Ancient Serpent, which had tormented me from adulthood, particularly in the preceding five years. The Holy spirit broke the bars of my yokes and set me from free from every evil bondages which had hitherto resulted in poverty, incessant job loss, business failures, snail speed, disfavour and diseases. The power of the Holy Ghost effectively quelled all the fiery darts of the enemy and deposited in me the power and fire to overcome the evil one who controls the world.
In the past three years 2003-2005, I have been experienced unlimited restoration in all spheres of my life. What I achieved in year 2003 for instance in my job, businesses and marriage was more than what I had achieved for all the preceding 15 years. The year started on an eventful note as I received a Car gift. In giving me the gift worth over four hundred thousand, the person God used said, he was acting under divine instruction and gave me a word:
Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgment
-Exodus 6:6 KJV
2004 is a year of even better things as I continue to experience a positive turning around in all spheres and I believe that the Good Lord will abundantly restore all the blessings the Locust have eaten in my life. I thank God for healing all the bruises of the Serpent in my life and to be alive to write this book. Only the living can talk about the goodness of God. I thank the Holy Spirit for being my greatest friend during the years of my adversity, and for divine instructions that have made me an overcomer.
Few months after I started writing out the manuscripts of this book in 1988, the Serpent attempted to discourage me by attacking the health of my wife, Bukola. She was hospitalized for three months for a disease medically diagnosed as Hepatitis. She lost weight and strength, her skin and eyeballs turned yellowish, and her blood level dropped to about 13% despite the fact that she was carrying a pregnancy. About 8 pints of blood had to be transfused into her over a period of three months with no improvement. At that point she stopped taking the blood transfusions and started drinking the Blood of Jesus through Holy Communion. The affliction climaxed in the malfunctioning of her liver? and she had to be induced artificially urinate.
We knew the attack was from the pit of hell; we held our peace, stood firm in faith and applied other spiritual principles discussed in this book. Of note, our Church also stood with my family in prayers, care and counselling. To His glory, she successfully gave birth to our second child ‘Overcomer’ through normal delivery during that illness,; and few weeks later her health was also completely restored.

CHAPTER ONE
In the Beginning
I
n the beginning God created the heaven and the earth -Gen. 1:1(KJV)
A
and God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good -Gen. 1:31 (KJV
It can be inferred from the first and last verses of the Book of Genesis quoted above that everything God created in the beginning was good, and meant to bring happiness, peace, joy, and eternal satisfaction of the human race. God’s will at the beginning was that Man would live forever enjoying the creation.
To fully understand the import of the quoted verses, let us examine in detail the purposes of God’s creation. In the beginning, God created the ‘day’ and ‘night’ to enable man to work during the daytime for his livelihood and rest during the night hours after his labour. All the plagues occurring now during daylight or nightfall, such as armed robbery, assassinations, crime, famine, diseases, wars, drought, floods and the like, are really strangers in the creation process. Ab initio, ”the terror of night…the arrow that flies by day… the pestilence that stalks in the darkness…and the plague that destroys at midday” (Psalm 91:5-6) were non-existent.
We could make a comparative analysis of every other creative work of God. The Sky (which presently serve as the seat of Satan’s kingdom) was not meant to be the habitation of the devil. Likewise, the seas and rivers were created to nourish the earth, not as the habitation of the Queen of the coast, water spirits and mermaid spirits. The Stars were made ‘to give light on the earth’ (Gen. 1:17). The Birds of the Air, the fishes of the Seas, and in fact all other Living creatures and plants were never created as vessels to afflict man with diseases, burdens, yoke, and death. Rather, they were created for the eternal pleasure, joy, and satisfaction of humankind:
“F
or everything God created is good” - 1 Tim 4:4, and for the good of man.
Unfortunately, the Serpent is now using God’s creation to afflict mankind. Almost every element of nature has become vessels for executing his evil programme. Mosquitoes for instance, have become vessels for the Serpent to afflict Malaria fever on mankind; but at the beginning it was not so, as God in His goodness did not create the Anopheles Mosquito as the harbinger of the Malaria virus.
At the beginning, “God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it”(Gen. 2:15 KJV), and have dominion over it. However, as recounted in Genesis 3, the Serpent deceitfully caused the first man and woman- Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eve, to disobey God. This resulted in the expulsion of the duo from the Garden of Eden, and God placed a curse on the Serpent, Adam and Eve and their offspring.
So the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” -Genesis 3 vs14-15 KJV
To the man, God said:

ursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” Genesis 3 vs17-19 KJV
These curses have four implications. First, mankind had fallen out of His favour and grace, and God’s original plan and purpose for mankind had to be altered because of the Adamic sin. Man, originally created to live forever, was now doomed to die and returns to dust. Because Adam and Eve were the first human beings, all their offspring automatically inherited this curse.
Rom 5:12: When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire human race. His sin spread death throughout the entire world, so everything began to grow old and die, for all sinned. TLB
Second, the curses established the law of enmity between man and the Serpent. The seed of hatred between Christians and Satan was sowed through this curse. Christians must be therefore know and accept the fact that they have a natural enemy in Satan.
Third, if we carefully read these curses we shall also discover that God empowered the Serpent to ‘bruise’ the heel of the seed of the woman. Most of the afflictions we face as individuals or those faced by nation states are manifestations of various ‘bruises’ inflicted on the heels of individuals or nations by the Ancient Serpent And this have been manifesting in forms of strife, starvation, diseases, poverty, wars, crime, and the like. Atheists and the like contend that the fact that problems exist in the world today attests to the supposition that there is no God. The explanation for the existence of problems in the world in spite of the existence of a Sovereign God is found in the verses quoted in Genesis 3 above. Simply put, God empowered the Ancient Serpent to afflict mankind because of Adam and Eve’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden. It is therefore obvious that the Serpent is the Source of most of the problems plaguing mankind
The fourth important point to note in the Edenic curse is the fact that God also empowered mankind to ‘bruise’ the head of the Serpent. Those familiar with the traits of the animal called the Serpent know that its strength lies in its head. Once the head of a Serpent is broken, it becomes powerless and dies instantly. By granting mankind the power to ‘bruise’ the head of the Serpent, God really gave us power to overcome the Serpent and stop all its evils in our daily life. Unfortunately whereas the Serpent fully utilisizes its power to ‘bruise’ the heel of mankind, the human race, particularly Christians seldom uses their divine power to ‘bruise’ the head of the Serpent. It has therefore been a one sided battle between man and the Serpent with the latter always having the upper hand. It is therefore not surprising that most Christians including those who profess to be born again still suffer under the yoke of various attacks of the devil- hunger, poverty, joblessness, marriage failures, business stagnancy, and the like.
This
book is a wake up call on Christians to put into use their divine power over the Serpent. Once a Christian successfully bruises the head of the Serpent he or she would be able to manifest his glory. The book teaches the strategies and tactics of achieving this.
CHAPTER TWO
The Ancient Serpent
H
ow art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” -Isaiah 13:12-14 KJV

nd he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years –Revelation 20:2 KJV
Lucifer is the Ancient Serpent. The above verses in the books of Prophet Isaiah and Revelation gives an insight on how the Serpent’s pride, arrogance, rebellion and disloyalty led to its fall from heaven; and the fate that awaits him before the millennium reign of Christ on earth. The same fate awaits any person who decides to toe his line.
Revelation 12: 7- 9 (KJV) give more revelation on the fall of the serpent:
“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was ast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him”
The above passage vividly reveals that there was a war in heaven between the forces of light and darkness and the war ended in favour of the former; that Satan. the Chief rebel and his renegades were cast out of the Heaven unto the earth; and lastly that the battleground between the forces of darkness and Light shifted onto the world.

oe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman, which brought forth the man-child.

“A
nd the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” - Rev 12:17 (KJV)
Unfortunately, one of the greatest tragedies of Christians is that they grossly underestimate the hatred Satan has for them. We are not expected to fear Satan, but we must not underestimate or be ignorant of his works against our life. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy” John 10:10. Those ignorant of the devices of the enemy are doomed to live under his yokes and burdens throughout their lifetime.

our conversion to Christianity did not automatically immune you from Satanic attacks, it only redeemed you from your sins, and saved your soul from eternal damnation. You have to wage a spiritual war against the dragon and his angels here on earth, and overcome just like Michael and his angels did in Heaven, before you can manifest your divine destiny.
To fully grasp whom the Serpent is let us consider some of his attributes. Satan is the accuser of the brethren. He is the restless wanderer, always all over the earth looking for the believer to accuse before God. “And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it”- Job 1:7 (KJV). In Revelation 12:10(KJV), he is described as “the accuser of our brethren …which accused them before our God day and night” Though Job was “perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil” -Job 1:1(KJV), the Serpent accused him before God and incited Him “to destroy him without cause”- Job 2:3(KJV)
Zechariah 3:2 also reveal how Satan accused Joshua - the High Priest in the presence of the Lord Almighty. The Lord had to rebuke Satan, before the prayers of Joshua could be answered: “And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?”(KJV)
Thereafter, the ‘filthy’ garments of Joshua were replaced with fine garments, and his sins were taken away.
These passages teach us several lessons. First, Satan, despite his fall, still has unrestricted access to the presence of God, and his only mission there is to accuse the brethren in order to prevent their prayers from being answered. We must realize that just as Satan stood at the ‘right side’ of Joshua to accuse him in the presence of the Angel of the LORD, in that same manner he still stands by our side to accuse us whenever our spirit is in the presence of the Lord.
Second, if the Serpent had the effrontery to accuse Joshua described as an High Priest of the Lord, ordinarily mortals can not be possibly be free from his accusations.
Third, we must realize that these satanic accusations, if answered may hinder our heavenly blessings. Consider how the material and spiritual condition of Joshua was positively transformed after the Lord rebuked Satan for Joshua’s sake.
Fourth, since we are knowledgeable of the devices of Satan, we must ceaselessly condemn every tongue that rises against us in Judgment (Isaiah 54:17)
A statement by the Lord Jesus Christ in Luke 22:31-32(KJV) further buttresses this argument. Here, Jesus Christ informed Simon Peter thus: “the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat”. What did Christ do in the circumstance? He interceded for Simon: “But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren”
Christians must therefore realize the importance of prayers to refute every accusation the enemy is leveling against them before the throne of grace. This informs that Christians must be offensive rather than being defensive in their prayers. We must accuse the accuser because the blood of Jesus Christ has redeemed us.
The Bible also refers to the Serpent as “the ruler of the Kingdom of the air”- Ephesians2: 2. As noted earlier in this book, God created the Sky for the good pleasure of humankind. However, after he was thrown out of Heaven, the Serpent turned the air into the seat of his Kingdom.

bout four years ago, in a split of a second I visibly beheld an image in the Sky, and the Holy Spirit told me that it is the throne of Satan. About two years after this revelation, I traveled to Cotonou, capital town of Republic of Benin; lo and behold, I saw an image on the reverse side of their 20c coin ‘Aferika 2001 Borwa’ which had the same resemblance with the image of the throne of Satan I beheld in the Sky. Those familiar with Benin Republic are aware that Satanism is deeply rooted in this West African country, voodoism being the most popular religion. It is therefore not surprising that the image of the throne of Satan is engraved on their national currency. The significance of this is that satanic kingdom is real and actively controlling socio-political activities in most, if not all Nations of the world.controlling socio-political activities in most, if not all Nations of the world.
The air around and above us is the medium for every activity we undertake. The air gives life to every living being. Without the air we will definitely not be able to breathe and communicate to one another or to each other. The air around us is also the medium for channeling spiritual messages, be they blessings or curses, prayer requests or answers to prayer. The Bible makes us understand that Angels of God are our Servants and they always ascend and descend God’s throne of grace through the air with our prayer requests and answers respectively (See Genesis 28:12, and Hebrews 1:14). One of the devices of Satan, who is the ‘ruler of the Kingdom of the air’, is to hinder these Angelic movements. In effect, while praying we should claim authority over the satanic kingdom in the air.
The Book of Daniel 10 further buttresses the fact that seated in the air are principalities and powers that hinders the prayers of the Saints. Daniel, a great man of God sought the face of the Lord by fasting for three weeks, eating “no food, no meat or wine” -Daniel 10:20. But the emissary of God sent to Daniel in response to his prayers was resisted for 21 days by an agent of the ruler of the kingdom of the air referred to in Daniel 10:13 as the Prince of the Persian Kingdom:
“Daniel, for your request has been heard in heaven and was answered the very first day you began to fast before the Lord and pray for understanding; that very day I was sent here to meet you. But for twenty-one days the mighty Evil Spirit who overrules the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the top officers of the heavenly army, came to help me, so that I was able to break through these spirit rulers of Persia” Dan 10:12-13 TLB
Our prayers must therefore be informed by this understanding and wisdom i.e. the necessity to bind and cast out every evil spirits in the kingdom of the air hindering our prayers. The Bible also informs us that the Serpent is ‘a liar and the father of lies’...no iota of truth can be found in him- John 8:44. We see him in Genesis 3 lie to Eve that she will not die if she eats the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam and Eve’s obedience to the Serpent in disregard of God’s commandments consequently led to the Edenic curse. In 1Kings 22:19-23, Satan is seen as a lying spirit in the mouths of 400 hundred Prophets of Israel that deceived Ahab King of Israel into prosecuting a war, which eventually cost his life:
“Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne with all the host of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left. And the LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?’ “One suggested this, and another that. Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, ‘I will entice him.’ “ ‘By what means?’ the LORD asked.” ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,’ he said. “ ‘You will succeed in enticing him,’ said the LORD. ‘Go and do it.’ “So now the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours.” 1 Kings 22:19-23
We must be wary of the lies of the Serpent. Several years ago when I believed God for a job, I dreamt that I secured a job in a particular organization. I erroneously thought the dream was of God and became complacent in praying for the new job. It was after I had waited for over a year and the dream never materialized that I resumed my prayers and eventually got a new job in a different organization. What likely happened in regard to the ‘dream job’ was that Satan sent an evil spirit to show me a fake dream so that I could stop praying for a job. It was also possible that the ‘dream job’ was of God and did not materialized because I stopped praying for it. Whatever the case might be, the most important lesson to be learnt from cases such as this is that we should Pray Until Something Happens PUSH, knowing fully that Satan and its agents are working to block and hinder our blessings.
In another instance, my wife dreamt that she saw me weeping, as I read a letter of ejection from our rented apartment. When she narrated the dream to me, we immediately cancelled it in the name of Jesus Christ. Confessed by faith that it was not our portion to become refugees in the land of the living, and cried to God to provide money to pay the outstanding house rent. To the Glory of God, our prayers were answered and the satanic dream never came to pass. Live by faith, and not by sight “for the promise comes by faith”- Romans 4:16. Be guided by the word of God, rather than by the dreams or what you see. Test every dream with the word of God.
Though the Serpent is always tormenting us with lies, we should always refute his lies by standing on the promises of God in whatever situation we find ourselves. For instance, God has promised that He will bless our food and water, take diseases from us, and even when we drink the deadly poison we shall not be harmed (Exodus 23:25,Mark16: 18). Therefore, if you are afflicted with a disease for instance, you must realize that there is an evil spirit behind it. Rebuke, bind and cast out the evil spirit behind the affliction, before subjecting yourself to medical treatment.
For instance, if you are diagnosed as being sick of Typhoid, do not simply attribute the affliction to the polluted food or water you probably eat or drank. Several others had eaten and drank that same food or drink without getting sick. It is the Serpent that is at work, and it is only using the elements of food and water as vessels for this affliction. Bind and cast out the Spirit of Typhoid, from your body and “the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall”-Malachi 4:2
Satan is also the deceiver who “masquerades as an angel of light’”2 Corinthians 11:14. Many Christians have been led astray through the membership of various satanic organizations. We must continually seek the counsel of the Holy Spirit before joining any organisation, in order not to fall into the deception of the enemy. One of the most effective ways of recognizing the Serpent and their seed is by testing for the Spirit of anti Christ. The Bible tells us in 1 John2: 22 that any man who denies that Jesus Christ is Lord has the spirit of anti Christ in him. The Serpent is the Chief anti Christ and wages wars against the followers of Jesus Christ through its seeds.
It is therefore very important that we recognize this fact, particularly within the context of the African society, where it is erroneously believed that Christians, Muslims and even traditionalists all worship the same God. Test the spirit behind other religion (the Amorcs, the Rosicrucian’s, the Eckankars, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Idol worshippers and the like) all who claimed to worship an Almighty God; do they acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour? It is not enough for adherents of these religions to believe in the existence of an Almighty God. Do they believe in the name and ministry of His Son, Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth and the life?
“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus
Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world”
-1 John 4:1-3
It is important to stress again that the Serpent is the enemy of the brethren, and he deploys all weapons at his disposal to frustrate the glory of God from manifesting in the lives of Christians. The human agents who hold allegiance to him are our ‘enemies’ only in a spiritual sense; we should show them love physically, but prayerfully attack and subdue the evil spirit and satanic power that have possessed them in the name of Jesus Christ.
CHAPTER THREE
Agents of the Serpents
E
very power in this world and beyond that is opposed to the knowledge of God and His son Jesus Christ derives its power form the Serpent! However, it is important to stress once more that the Serpent is our main and only enemy. Suffice to say that the Serpent uses visible or invisible powers and human agents to achieve his purposes. But, our enemies are not those who we have rightly or wrongly identified within our neighbourhood as witches or wizards. These are seeds of the Serpent who are using its evil powers to afflict others. Evil powers, principalities, rulers of darkness, and the like all source their powers from Satan. As such, our prayers should be directed at the Ancient Serpent that empowers these visible and invisible agents.
I have never been an agent of Satan, and will never be by my will and the Grace of God; therefore cannot give an account about his administrative and hierarchical structure. But the cross fighting and in fighting among and between the various satanic agents in our midst surely indicates that there is neither discipline nor an organized hierarchical structure in the satanic kingdom. Be this as it may, it is essential for Christians to be knowledgeable about the activities of these agents of darkness. This is because the Serpent is not Omni present, (only Jehovah God is by His Spirit); Satan works based on the information gathered by his human agents to attack the activities of the children of God.
Two categories of the seeds of the Serpent are discernable. The first are the evil spirits, demon spirits/gods, and the dark powers in the heavenlies (Mark 13:25), those described in Ephesians 6:12 as: “principalities… powers…the rulers of the darkness of this world... Spiritual wickedness in high places”. The visible or human agents of the Serpent are revealed in Exodus 7:11 to include ‘wisemen, sorceress, and the Egyptian magicians’ who through their secret arts counterfeited some of the signs of the Lord wrought through Moses. The seeds also include those who engage in what Jehovah God calls ‘detestable practices’
“ When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you.”- Deut.18: 9-11
Deut.4:15-19 further outlines the seeds of the Serpent to include all Idol worshipers, Star gazers, Palmists and all others who forsake the laws of God. In Lev. 19:26, Almighty God expressly warned against the practice of sorcery and divination: “Do not practice divination and Sorcery”. In summary, the seeds of the Serpent include both the practitioners and clients of the ‘detestable practices’ under listed-
• Magic arts
• Idolatry
• Sorcery
• Divination
• Witchcraft
• Necromancy
• All forms of Occultism
• Star Gazing
• Palmistry
• All unbelievers are latent seeds of the Serpent.
Christians must physically and spiritually identify the human seeds of the Serpent living in their midst and be wary of them. The Serpent is very crafty and is always looking for openings through which he can penetrate and pollute the lives of the children of God. Be vigilant and “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God”-2 Cor. 6:14-16.
A contrary spirit controls idolators, magicians, Occultists, and the like. Limit your association with them to mere exchange of pleasantries. As mentioned earlier, the Serpent is neither Omni present or Omnipotent. As such he relies wholly on information supplied through a network of his agents within the household, workplace, church or age group associations. This information is the basis of the attacks we faced in our lives. Every Christian that wants to be free from Satanic attacks and affliction should keep the seeds of the Serpent ignorant about his activities. It is however essential to state that not every unbeliever is an agent of the Serpent. Most are not, while quite a number of Christians who are not genuinely born again consciously worship Satan. Satan, who the Bible calls ‘the god of this age’, has blinded the eyes of most unbelievers, to ignorantly worship the demon god of their religion, in the false belief that they are worshipping the True and Living God.
CHAPTER FOUR
The Enemies within
Every power in this world and beyond that is opposed to the knowledge of God derives his power from the Serpent. The seeds of the Serpent are most active within the household, particularly in the African continent; and we must have this understanding, if we desire to overcome the evil deeds of the Serpent in our lives. The Yoruba ethnic group in Nigeria have an adage which says “Eyin kule lota wa, inu ile laseni ngbe”, literally translated means ‘the enemy is in the backyard, but the evil plotter resides with you right inside the house’. Another proverb, which succinctly elucidates the concept of household enemies states: ‘kokoro to un jefo, ara efo loungbe’ which means ‘the insect that is wrenching havoc on the vegetable lives on its stem’
We live in the midst of deception- this is the truth of the matter. The seeds of the Serpent ‘are drawn up against Christians on every side’- Psalm3: 6 The Serpent has a network of his agents in all spheres of life. They are in the Church, in our work place, in the communities we reside, and among members of the various associations we belong to. Prophet Micah states in the passage quoted above that ‘ a man’s enemies are members of his own household’, meaning that human agents of Serpents could be found within your immediate or extended family.
Experience has shown that the Serpent desires to have at least one agent in each nuclear family through whom he will be afflicting other members of the family, particularly those that are disciples of Christ. Such human agents of the Serpent would have been initiated into a satanic association early in his or her life. It is therefore most probable that in every nuclear family one person is either into witchcraft, or possess familiar spirit, into occult, or any of the several other evil societies.

elieve it or not that satanic agent may be your Grand Parents, Parents, step father or mother, husband, wife, in laws, Brothers, Sisters, Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Half Sisters/Brothers, Nephews, or even one of your Children! In most case, at least one of the people in your family mentioned above had been initiated into the dark world. Unfortunately most Christians are either ignorant or refused to believe this biblical and empirical fact, and suffer many afflictions as a result.
These household enemies who are very close to us and privy to much information about our progress and activities cause most of the afflictions facing Christians. These household enemies act like evil monitors/informants relating information on activities of Christians to higher evil powers. These information is the arsenal the evil powers use to thwart the fortunes of Christians. Unfortunately unless a Christian is a prayer warrior and Holy Ghost filled, he may not be able to suspect the enemies within because they are our relations. Understanding can come only through the revelation of the Holy Spirit.
A popular Christian hymn states in Yoruba ethnic language in Nigeria states that: “Kristian, mase jafara, Gbo b’angeli re ti nwi, Ni arin ota l’o wa, Ma sora” which translated means: “Christians, be vigilant, Listen to the counsel of your guardian angel, You are in the midst of foes, Be vigilant”
This hymn aptly stresses the need to be vigilant, watchful, and apply our heart to wisdom in order to understand and overcome the ways of the wicked. To fully understand the machinations of household enemies, let us study some biblical cases.
Abel was the first victim of this scourge. The first case of murder and assassination in the Holy Bible involved a blood brother against another blood brother! As recorded in Genesis 4, Cain slain Abel, just because the latter found more favour in the eyes of the LORD. Cain was no doubt a seed of the Serpent, malice (one of the fruits of the evil spirit) was at work in his mind when he slaughtered Abel. Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous -1 John 3:12-13:
Also, Consider how Laban of Paddam Aram maltreated his cousin (Jacob) during the 21 years the latter slaved for him? Is this not another case of satanic oppression by a household serpent that masqueraded as a loving and caring blood relation? (In Genesis 29:14 Laban had said to Jacob “Your are my own flesh and blood”). Let us examine this in detail. Based on a mutual agreement with Laban, Jacob decided to serve Laban for seven years in order to marry Rachel (Laban’s daughter). At the end of his 7 year labour, ‘Jacob said to Laban, “give me my wife, my time is completed, and I want to lie with her” -Genesis 29 vs.21. The Bible tells us that Laban reneged on his agreement and in a most deceitful manner gave Leah instead of Rachael to Jacob; thereby causing Jacob to marry a woman he never loved. He (Jacob) had to work for another seven years, before he could marry the wife of his heart.
Second, despite working for Laban with all his strength, Jacob was never appreciated. This is a typical trait of the Serpent and his seeds. No amount of good you do for the seeds of the Serpent will impress them. It is apt to say that household serpents are ingrates and will always repay your good deeds with evil. Laban cheated Jacob by changing his wages ten times, he wanted to harm him and would had surely send Jacob away empty handed (after 21 years of hardship and toil), if God had not rebuked him (Laban) - Genesis 31:42. The enemy’s wickedness is better imagined than experienced. Despite making a self-confession that it was because of Jacob that the Lord has blessed him, Laban still burdened Jacob with a yoke for 21 years
But Laban said to him, “If I have found favor in your eyes, please stay. I have learned by divination that the LORD has blessed me because of you.” -Genesis30: 27
This utterance by Laban also confirms my earlier assertion in this book that one of the most effective ways of identifying the seeds of the Serpent is by their antichrist posture. It could be rightly inferred from the statement above that Laban either patronizes a diviner or he was a diviner. The wickedness he perpetrated against Jacob, a devotee of the Almighty God, should therefore not be surprising. It is also significant to note that the enmity Laban had for Jacob was a manifestation of the curse Jehovah God placed on the Serpent.
• “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”- Genesis 3:15
Jacob’s God is the Jehovah, while Laban’s god is the Serpent. No surprisingly, no love was lost between the duo.
The experience and vicissitudes of Joseph is another attestation that ‘a man’s enemies are members of his family’. Genesis 37 records that Joseph brothers developed a pathological hatred for him and treated him harshly as they could not speak a kind word to him”...when they saw that their father loved him more than any of them”(vs.4). The hatred of Joseph’s brothers against him was therefore borne out of envy and jealousy, another vice that is one of the fruits of the Serpent. Joseph’s prophetic dream further fuelled the hatred:
“Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.” His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said”- Genesis 37:5-8
Joseph’s brothers devised ways to destroy his Glory. Initially they thought of murdering him in cold blood and dumping his corpse in a well, or throwing him into a well. But they dropped these options and sold him into slavery for twenty shekels of silver. In spite of the devilish plans of his brothers, Joseph eventually fulfilled his destiny. Even in affliction, the spirit of excellence marked him out and he remained faithful to his Creator. As a slave, he distinguished himself and was made the Chief of Staff of Potiphar’s household. Most importantly, he refused to be lured into adultery with Potiphar’s wife .In prison, the Spirit of God was with him and King Pharaoh sent for him and made him the Prime Minister of Egypt.
Joseph is the standard bearer for all Christians seeking supernatural divine promotion; we must emulate his good deeds. The God that promoted Joseph from Prison to Palace is still alive and will turn around every persecution to promotion. He will frustrate all the manipulations of household enemies against your glory, he will be with you in affliction, and fulfill the purpose of your life.
“He
reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of
my disaster, but the LORD was my support. He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me”- Psalm 18:16-25
David’s songs of praise as recorded above were as relevant for Joseph as it was to David. And I believe that it is even more relevant to any Christian facing any kind of affliction today. Another example of household enemies recorded in the Bible is Onan, who refused to fulfill his traditional responsibility of raising up an offspring for his late brother; he achieved this by always spilling his semen on the ground whenever he lay with Tamar- his death brother’s wife (Genesis 38:8-10)
Yet another example is the conspiracy against the leadership of Moses jointly instigated by his brother and Sister! In Numbers 12:1 we read the story of how Aaron, the brother of Moses and Miriam, Aaron’s Sister slandered Moses because he had choose to marry a Cushite. They also led a rebellion against Moses’ leadership. However, God stood with His anointed servant, preserved him from the conspiracy of the wicked, and His anger burned against the duo. Consequently, Miriam became Leprous for 7 days (Numbers 12:9-12).
Abimelech who slaughtered his seventy brothers on a single stone, because he wanted to be the King of Israel (Judges 9:5) is perhaps the most bestial agent of the serpent recorded in the Holy Scriptures. Other instances of Household wickedness include the story of Jephthah, who was chased away by his brothers because they did not want him to share in the family inheritance. However, God lifted him up to rule in the midst of his enemies, as those who earlier despised him came to look for his favour:
“Some time later, when the Ammonites made war on Israel, the elders of Gilead went to get Jephthah from the land of Tob. “Come,” they said, “be our commander, so we can fight the Ammonites.” Jephthah said to them, “Didn’t you hate me and drive me from my father’s house? Why do you come to me now, when you’re in trouble?” The elders of Gilead said to him, Nevertheless, we are turning to you now; come with us to fight the Ammonites, and you will be our head over all who live in Gilead.” -Judges 11:4-6
The cruxification of our Lord Jesus Christ by Judas, one of the twelve disciples was another strike by the Serpent, using one of his agents within Jesus’ household. But by inciting Judas to give away Jesus for ‘thirty silver coins’ (Mathew 26:15), the Serpent unknowingly ‘bruised’ himself on the head, and sown the seeds for the destruction of his powers over the saints. The cruxification of Jesus Christ was the necessary atoning sacrifice for our redemption from the adamic sin and curse. For Christ death redeemed the saints from the curse of the law, and empowered those who believed in His name to overcome the Serpent. Most importantly, Jesus had to die on the cross and be resurrected in order to overcome the power of death, which came to the world through the Edenic disobedience, and assume all powers in Heaven and on earth.
“Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom
ou crucified, both Lord and Christ.” -Acts 2:3
CHAPTER FIVE
Christ, Head of all Powers
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me”- Matt 28:18-19
The popular Christian hymn “All powers belongs to Jesus’ is apt. Unwavering faith that absolute powers belong to Jesus Christ is key to overcoming all fiery arrows of the enemy. ‘Jesus is Lord’ is a popular refrain among Christians, but most believers do not fully understand the import of this. Paul spoke on Jesus Christ’s self-testimony in Philippians 2:9-11 thus:
The power in the name of Jesus Christ is the singular and most important difference between Christianity and all other religions. Adherents of other religions worship demon gods, but Christians worship the living God. Not surprisingly, it only in the Christendom that unconditional, supernatural signs and wonders are experienced by those who believe in Him:
“And
these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover”- Mark 16:17-18 KJV
Have you ever heard of a Buddhist experiencing divine healing or a Muslim casting out demons? “ If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand? I say this because you claim that I drive out demons by Beelzebub” -Luke 11:18. Jesus is Lord! We must fully comprehend this statement in order to successfully fight the good fight of faith. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:15-18
I lost all respects I had for the Serpent some years ago, when I started experiencing satanic oppression while asleep. With all I have heard about the Devil in my childhood, I had expected that my spirit would struggle for a while before overcoming the evil one whenever I was attacked. However, I usually called on the name of Jesus or pleaded the blood of Jesus just once, and the satanic tormentor fled. These experiences make me believe with all my heart that Jesus is truly the LORD, and at the mention of His name every knee must bow.
In conclusion, we must bear in mind that though ‘the whole world is under the control of the evil one’ - (1 John 5:18) the sons of God ‘ have overcome the world’.
“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
-1 John 5:4
CHAPTER SIX
Overcome the Serpent
In the preceding Chapters I identified the Serpent as the No 1 and only enemy of all born again Christians. Every other personality that is using satanic powers to afflict us should not be regarded as our enemies because it is the evil spirit inside them that is at work. And this evil spirit is of Satan. The most appropriate and effective way of dealing with such personalities, be they witches, wizards, occultists, sorcerers, diviners and the like, is to paralyze the satanic spirit in them with the Blood of Jesus. Once this is done, they will become powerless, and we can then intercede for their salvation, for God does not delight in the death of the wicked.
Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?-Ezek 18:23
I also stated that he is the source of most of the problems plaguing the human race in general, and Christian homes in particular. Of course there is a strong probability that we could also be our own ‘enemies’ through some of our actions or inactions, or by acts of omission or commission, but this is not the issue of dissection in this book. Lastly, I advised that all Christians should be of good cheer, because Jesus Christ had overcome the world and given us power to tread and trample on the Serpent and its seeds.
How do we exercise this awesome power? How do we overcome the works of the enemy in our life? The strategies for successfully waging spiritual wars against the Serpent are the kernel of this chapter. However, before I proceed on this subject, it is pertinent to further explain why Christians must engage in spiritual warfare against the Serpent. This is because quite a number of Churches under empahsise this need.
Basically, spiritual warfare is a biblical injunction. Paul counsels Timothy to ‘fight the good fight of faith’ -1Timothy 6: 12 . The Serpent, our archenemy is wicked, stubborn, unrepentant, and unrelenting. Most importantly he has powers of his own, do not forget the fact that many of the Angels of God rebelled with him, he was defeated, thrown out of heaven, and subsequently set up a Kingdom in the air for his earthly dominion. The Bible recognizes this fact, as it is stated in 1 John 5:19:
• The whole world is under the control of the evil one (NIV)
• The whole world lies in the power of the evil one (NAS)
• All the rest of the world around us is under Satan’s power and control (TLB)
We are not to fear the Serpent, but neither should we underestimate his capacity for destruction!
“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings”- 1Peter 5:8-9
Unfortunately most Christians ignore the devil, in the confidence that he is under their feet. Yes, the devil is suppose to be under the feet of all followers of Christ, but in reality he is not as most Christians are not sufficiently empowered with the anointing to overcome the enemy. The Holy Spirit clearly told me several times that a Christian cannot overcome the Serpent excerpt by the anointing of the Holy Ghost. I have personally experienced this spiritual fact.
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing”. Isaiah 10:27 KJV
This anointing that breaks the yoke and lifts burden away do not come automatically upon a person on becoming a born again Christian or being ordained a Church Worker/Minister. The miracle of your conversion is the miracle of salvation. Your ordination as a Church Minister is still largely a human ordination. You still need to be empowered by the Holy Ghost to effectively discharge your assignments. There are a lot of committed, devoted, and pious Christians and Pastors who are still labouring and suffering under the yoke of the Serpent. You may be a good Christian for many years, yet still be heavily oppressed by Satan. The Serpent yokes many Christians, Churches, and Church Leaders but they are ignorant of this fact, and will not want to admit it either. It is a pity.
The Anointing involves the baptism of the Holy Spirit upon your life. This anointing goes beyond speaking in tongues, which is a gift of the Holy Spirit given liberally to all that desired it. Holy Ghost baptism is an infilling and outpouring of the Holy Ghost power over your life. This will give you the capacity to effectively resist, and overcome all the fiery arrows of the Serpent against your life, and lead you to fulfilling your destiny. All the Servants of God who did great works as recorded in the Bible, were empowered by the Holy Ghost to do such works. A careful reading of the Bible will show that all of such people were able to fulfill their ministries after the Holy Spirit came upon them in power. Talk of Moses, Samson, Gideon, Saul, David, Paul, and the Apostles. Even our Lord Jesus Christ commenced his ministry of signs and wonders pioneered by the miracle of turning water into wine, when he received the baptismal of the Holy Ghost at River Jordan. Before this occurrence he did not perform any miracle. And could not have had.
“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. - Matt 3:16-17
Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness -Luke 4:1-2 NKJV
W
hat is the anointing? How do we receive the anointing? The anointing is a divine visitation, a divine empowerment, and outpouring of the power of the Holy Ghost on a person, a spiritual experience in which God releases his Angels to minister to you day and night wading off evil and attracting goodness and mercy to you, a situation where the fire of the Holy Ghost envelops you wherever you go, immunizing you from afflictions, and preventing evil from falling upon you. When you become anointed, you become a carrier of Holy fire, and attract unlimited favour.
Though every Christian needs the anointing of the Holy Ghost to overcome the Serpent, but few Christians ever experienced the anointing of the Holy Ghost during their lifetime. The anointing of the Holy Ghost does not fall on complacent Christians, it only baptizes -
• A Christian who leads an uncompromising life of holiness and righteousness, shunning every appearance of evil at great costs to comfort and pleasure.
• A Christian who knows his covenant rights in the word, and chews and digests the word all the day.
• A Christian whose is willing to ‘bend down to the ground and put his face between his knees’ in prayer as Elijah did on Mount Carmel (1Kings 18) until a heavy rain of blessing begins to fall.
• A Christian who habitually speaks in tongues until he is ‘lost’ in tongues.
• A Christian who indulges in long hours of praise and worship, at times moving God to dance in heaven
• A Christian who withdraws to Gethsemane occasionally to fellowship with the Holy Ghost in order to recharge his spiritual battery.
• A Christian who does not spend all his nights hours sleeping or snoring, but wakes consistently around midnight to contend knowing fully well that “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer sowing good seed in his field; but one night as he slept, his enemy came and sowed thistles among the wheat. When the crop began to grow, the thistles grew too.” Math13:24-26 TLB
• A Christian with unflinching faith and trust in God in spite of any satanic afflictions he may face in the quest for the anointing. “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”- Ephesians 6:17-18
Strategies and Tactics of Overcoming the Serpent
A THE WORD
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning” -John1: 1
T
he first and most important weapon of our warfare is the word of God. Understand it, meditate on it, confess it, act on it and do it. Paul calls it the sword of the spirit. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” -Colossians 3:16. As shown by the above passage, the word is God himself. If you confess the word of God, you are releasing the spirit of God into action. The word is therefore your spiritual incantation. The attempt by the Serpent to tempt Jesus ended in failure because Jesus stood on the word.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’-Mathew 4:4
Christians who desire to receive the anointing to overcome the devil and manifest supernaturally must be very conversant with the word, and also memorize and internalize the word relevant to their situation. At times this may be a whole passage or chapter as the case may be. At the height of some satanic attacks I faced few years, I was led by the Spirit to memorize and confess long chapters of the Bible such as 2 Samuel 22. As I chant the word, the evil spirit and demons behind the attacks fled and I received personal deliverance.
The Serpent will flee from us if we always saturate our environment and the air around us with the word. We should confess the Word with our mouths, and listen to Christian messages on audio and videotapes. Most of us attract evil spirits into our dwelling places because of the worldly, at times satanic information released through the secular music and talk shows on the Television and Radio stations. You have duty to censor what your family hears or watches. The Bible states that the Serpent is the ruler of the kingdom of the air, but you can frustrate his activities, which he carries out through the air, by saturating the air around you with the word of God. ‘Bible in cassettes’- audio recording of the Bible in audiotapes, are not too expensive to come by and are available in leading Christian bookshops. Purchase a pack and play it in your car, in your work place, listen to it in the company of members of your family after work at home. Take control of your environment with the word, and no demon will be able to operate around you.

emember the popular hymn: ”Prayer is the Key x2, Prayer is the master Key, Jesus started with Prayers and ended with Prayers, Prayer is the Master key”
Prayer is communicating with God; Prayer is fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit. It is releases auction to neutralize satanic activities. A veritable tool of casting our burdens, joys, sorrows, afflictions, supplications and anxieties on God is through Prayers. Men ought to pray and not to faint… -Luke 18:1. I once asked the Holy Spirit how often should I pray thinking that there should be an average duration of prayers daily; the answer I received was that I should pray always.
Prayer is not a ceremony or ritual but a discourse with God. There is no particular posture required to pray. You can pray in any posture, what matters is your commitment. Whether sitting, standing, squatting, lying down, just focus your heart to God and open up a line of communication with him, and he surely listens to you.
How do you pray- loudly, or silently, violently or quietly? Whether you pray aggressively with all your body jerking or shaking, or you’re praying in a motionless position, the most important thing is your heart. Prayer is a spiritual exercise; it is not your body that is praying, but your spirit. What matters most is your earnest, heartfelt commitment in prayer. You can pray silently but with groaning in your spirit; and the same time you can pray violently bodily, earnestly in your Spirit. God is a spirit, and what happens during prayers is that our Spirit (not the body) communicates with God. What is important while praying is to establish and maintain a line of communication with God. This can only be achieved if we avoid being engrossed in thoughts during prayer. But it is recommended that you pray aggressively as experience has shown that a person may fall asleep if he prays silently for a long duration.
The important factor, however, remains earnestly in prayer. Hannah prayed inaudibly, yet the Spirit of God stirred the Priest to attend to her. Jacob struggled aggressively with God in prayer, and also received divine attention. Jesus Christ prayed and the sweat of his body was compared to drops of blood, and He overcame. I had cause to pray violently and aggressively, and also to pray silently without my lips moving, and to His glory my prayers were answered in all occasions. A Christian brother once asked me why is it necessary for Christians to pray? I retorted that If God answers our needs without praying, who would worship God? There is a mysterious power that is released when we pray, a power that acknowledges the supremacy and sovereignty of God over the whole world and beyond. Since Satan accuses us day and night before God, it is needful for Christians to refute his accusations day and night through prayers.
James 4:7 reads: “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”. Persistent prayers are the weapons for effective resistance of the devil. The Kingdom of the devil cannot withstand a sustained bombardment of prayers. There is a price for everything, or rather said, everything has a price. One of the prices to be paid in order to maintain our victory over the Devil and his schemes is persistent communication with God through earnest prayers. Moreover, our prayers must be word based. Any prayer that is not based on the Scriptures is mere tautology- “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”-Ephesians 6:17.
S
ome Churches are strong in the word, and weak in prayers; others are vice versa. The Word and Prayer are symbiotic. An important quality of a Christian life is a sound understanding and practical application of the Word of God, coupled with a strong prayer life. If all a Christian or church does is studying and preaching the Word for long hours, without devoting sufficient time to prayers, no meaningful results would be achieved.
• For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost -1 Thess 1:5

In
the same vein, if all a Christian or Church does is to say all manners of prayers without an understanding of the Word of God, then such prayers
are akin to those said by beggars- high in promises, but ineffectual. For the word of God is the Spirit of God that will give life to your prayers, making it powerful enough to achieve desired results. In summary, the best approach is to pray on the Word.
c. FASTING AND PRAYER
E
very Christian that desires to be filled with power of the Holy Ghost must always humble himself before God through fasting. Isaiah 58 discusses the kinds of fasting expected from Christians. fasting and praying Christian is like a double barrel gun or a two edged sword. Our Lord Jesus Christ set the standard for us by ‘fasting for forty days and nights’ (Mathew 4:2) before the commencement of his ministry. Perhaps, if he had not fasted, he would not have been able to overcome the devil’s temptation in the wilderness. Much later, in the course of his ministry, he informed his disciples that fasting and prayer is what will empower them with the capacity to cast out demons. (Mathew 17:21)
Outlined below are three ‘types’ of fasting.
i. DRY FASTING
What is commonly referred to as ‘dry fasting’ is complete abstinence from food and water for a period of time. Moses was with the Lord Almighty for forty days without eating bread or drinking water (Exodus 34:28); the Jews of Susan fasted for three days and nights without eating or drinking in order to be delivered from their enemies who had decreed their destruction (Esther3, 4); and the people of Nineveh decreed a fast for both themselves and even their animals (!), as a way of seeking the mercy of God, who had threatened to destroy them. The story is recorded in Jonah 3.The account of the passages cited above reveals how the hope of different peoples was restored and hopeless situation transformed, when they humbled themselves before God.
There was an instance in the Gospel when the crowd that followed Christ in Galilee did not eat for three days, yet continued to wait on the Lord for their miracles. Jesus Christ touched by their perseverance called his disciples and said to them “I have compassion for these people: they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat”- Mathew 15: 32. Jesus Christ performed the great miracle of feeding four thousand people with only seven loaves of bread because of this persevering faith and sacrifice of the followers. The lesson to be learnt from this passage is that we have to touch the heart of Jesus through the sacrifice of fasting before we can experience astounding miracles. One way of attracting the attention of Jesus is by waiting on him, forsaking food or drink, just like the crowd of Galilee.
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” -Isaiah 40:29-3
ii. FASTING AND PRAYING ON THE MOUNTAIN
Moses stayed on the mountain top for forty days while waiting to receive the commandments from God.- Deut 9:9 Jesus was always going to the mountain in Company of his disciples to pray. (Luke 9:28; and Mark 14:26)
This is a common practice, particularly among the ‘white garment’ churches to fast and pray on the Mountain. The principle behind this act is not satanic, and in fact it is scriptural as shown from the instances cited above. The advantage of mountain fasting is that he creates a serene and peaceful atmosphere for us to worship and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. The arduous task of climbing the mountain itself is an act of sacrifice, which will not go unnoticed by God. God rewards those who make a covenant with him by sacrifice:
“Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.” -Ps 50:5
There have been testimonies of stubborn problems solved through prayers and fasting programmes held on Mountains. Not necessarily because there is a supernatural power on the mountain, but because the mountain provides an ideal venue to pray and fast earnestly without distractions.
The tragedy of mountain fasting and prayer in contemporary times is that some Churches, particularly the ‘White Garment’ denominations have demonised it. These Churches know the power in fasting and praying on the mountain more than the Pentecostals, but unfortunately they misapply this Kingdom principle for satanic purposes. They have turned this spiritual exercise into a ritual, as candle and incense burning, blood sacrifices, nudity bathing at dark hours and the like are common occurrences during the fasting and praying programmes organized by such churches. As a result of these occurrences, Christians are advised to prayerfully choose the Mountain they wish to pray and fast.
iii. PROSTRATE FASTING
Another way we could humble ourselves before God is by lying on the ground while fasting. When Moses discovered that the Israelites have rebelled against God through Idolatry, he interceded for them by lying on the ground: “Then once again I fell prostrate before the LORD for forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water, because of all the sin you had committed, doing what was evil in the LORD’s sight and so provoking him to anger.”- Deut. 9:18.
King David also acted in like manner when the Lord Almighty sent Prophet Nathan to him to pronounce a judgment of death on his child born of an adulterous relationship (2 Samuel 12: 16)
Christians must worship the God of Israel like the days of Old, if they are to experience the astounding miracles like those of Old. We must strive to practice every spiritual principle recorded in the Bible. The word of God must be believed in its literal meaning and acted upon sheepishly. I have practiced these principles and found them spiritually stimulating and uplifting.
d. WITHDRAWING TO GETHESEMANE
“Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” - Matt 26:36-37
A
nother way of seeking the face of God is by withdrawing to Gethsemane to pray. This is a lonely place, not necessarily a mountain. Our role model in this regard remains Jesus, the Lord and Savior, who ”often withdrew to lonely places and prayed” - Luke 5:16
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed” -Mark 1: 35
Our contemporary Gethsemane in these days could be an Island, a camp, a farmhouse, or an open space, a virgin land, or a forest. The objectives of withdrawing to Gethsemane are two fold- First, to deny ourselves the comfort of our houses and seek the face of the Lord Almighty, in a place of relative inconvenience. Second, to commune with God and the Holy Spirit in an atmosphere free from distractions.
e. NIGHT VIGILS
N
eedless to say, anyone who desires to overcome the serpent must take authority over the night. To overcome the Serpent, a Christian must be willing to stand in prayers against the kingdom of Satan for at least one hour every night, unfortunately sleep is the god of most Christians. The night hours, starting from exactly 12 mid night to dawn is the period of operation of powers of darkness.
Matt 13:24-26:The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. NKJV
A lot of events that occur during the day are programmed and decided upon at night. Destinies of nations and individuals are determined at night. Do we remember that Jesus Christ was arrested during the night; his hollow trial and cruxification all took place at night hours. Jesus acknowledged the fact that satanic operations reign during the dark hours when he said in Luke 22:53 thus- “Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour-when darkness reigns.” Jesus Christ was able to accomplish his mission and overcome all the devices of the Serpent while on earth, because he was always ‘praying to God at nights’. “One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God”-Luke 6:12-13.
In Mark 14:37-38, he counseled his disciples to watch and pray overnight so that they would be able to stand in faith. Need we remind ourselves that the divine visitation Paul and Silas experienced in the Prison cell was as a result of powerful night vigil they both undertook? Was it a mere coincidence that it was during a watch night that they experienced that mighty deliverance?
“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody’s chains came loose” -Acts 16:25-26
f. LIFTED HANDS
“Your hand will be lifted up in triumph over your enemies, and all your foes will be destroyed.” -Micah 5:9
E
arlier in this Chapter, I advised that we should believe the word of God in its literary meaning and seek to practice every principle contained therein. It is in this spirit that I affirm that great deliverances and victories will be achieved against the enemies, by lifting up the sword of the spirit towards heaven. Just hold the Bible in either of your hands, high up above your head towards heaven, and pray the prayer of faith. Your victories are certain.
This simple act is akin to physical confession of Psalm 121:1, which goes thus: “I lift my eyes to the hills- where does my help comes from. My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth”. Lift up the sword of the spirit in your hands towards the throne of grace and pray aggressively for some hours- it is a principle of the days of old that brought great victories for the saints, and it still does such. In the book of Exodus 17:10-13, we read how lifted hands achieved great victories for the Israelites in battles against the Amalekites.
“The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.” So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up-one on one side, one on the other-so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.”
g. PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT
P
raying in the sprit is no doubt another potent means of overcoming the antics of the Serpent and its seeds (particularly hindering spirits and prayer swallowers). It confuses Satan, as he will not be able to decode your prayers. “For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit” -1 Cor. 14:2. Moreover, we may not be able to pray for long hours in our understanding, but with other tongues, we cam pray endlessly.
The Spirit of God that dwelleth inside believers’ gives them power to tread and trample upon spiritual scorpions and Serpents. We must charge up ourselves in the Holy Ghost.” But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you’ said Jesus to the Apostles in Acts 1:8. A spirit filled Christian is no doubt untouchable for the devil, as the tongues of fire of God would always be burning around him. (See Acts 2:3)
Moreover, praying in the spirit edifies us (1Cor.14: 4) and strengthens our relationship with God for “God is Spirit and his worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth” -John 4: 24. Lastly praying in the Spirit is a biblical injunction, as a means of becoming strong in the Lord:
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” -Ephesians 6:18
H. THE POWER IN PRAISE
“From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger” - Psalm 8:2
M
an is created as an object of Praise and Worship. God delights in the Praise of his saints. When we are transformed to heaven, the main thing saints will be doing is to worship God. Jehovah wants us to spend quality time in Praising Him. Unfortunately very few Christians are praising God, and even the few spend little time in Praising God. The schedule of services of most Churches is programmed, and very limited time is spent praising God. In some Churches, what is supposed to be praise has turned to entertainment and disco dancing.
The Holy Spirit wants us to spend quality time in Praise and Worship. Devote up to 3 continuous hours at least once a week to bless God for his wisdom, love, goodness, mercy, love, awesomeness, and Omnipotence. Praise and Worship is the most effective way of receiving divine attention, more effective than Prayers and Fasting. You can pray and still not believe. You can fast and still doubt. But when you just Praise God, you are putting your faith into action telling him that with Him all things are possible. Praise and Worship is a tool of arousing divine attention, and wading off the enemy. We must worship and rejoice in the Lord always whatever situation we find ours selves. Praise and worship is a potent weapon of attracting the blessings of God, and disarming the enemy. Depression is an evil spirit, but joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Make the Joy of the Lord your strength.
The Bible records several deliverances that came about through the potency of Praise. The wall of Jericho collapsed at the sound of the trumpet, and when Israelites gave a loud shout of joy to the Lord (Joshua 6); the Spirit of the Lord descended upon many Prophets at Gibeah because lyres, tambourines, flutes and harps were being played unto the Lord (1 Samuel 10); as soon as the people of Judah under the leadership of King Jehoshapat, began to sing and praise the Lord, the Lord set ambushes against their foes, the invading army of Ammon,Moab and Mout Seir-
” After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the LORD, for his love endures forever.” As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated” -(2 Cor. 20:21).
The prison walls flung open and the chains that tied Paul and Silas down became loosen after the two sang hymns to the Lord. (Acts 16:25- 26)
God can never ignore any Christian that comes to His presence and praises Him quantitatively and qualitatively. God enjoys Praise, but most Christians are more engrossed in belaboring Him with prayer requests. If you Praise and Worship God you are giving to Him rather than asking. Of course it is a biblical principle that when you give, more is given to you in return. Devil detests Praise. When you are Praising God, the Holy Spirit comes to your presence, and demons flee from your presence! As such an effective way of overcoming the Serpent is by just Singing hymns and choruses to God all day long; and spending quality time, a least three hours weekly in praising the goodness of God.
(i) HAVE FAITH IN GOD -Mark 11:22
L
astly, but most importantly, you have to possess an unwavering faith in God, and abiding trust in His Power to achieve all things. If you do all manners of fasting, prayers, and confess the word, yet you do not believe that it is well, then you are just embarking on a time wasting, unproductive, and unfruitful spiritual exercise. No man has seen God before, and all of us are simply relating to Him by faith. God honours our faith much more than any rigorous spiritual exercise.
The Bible says we cannot please God except by faith. Even, after you have cried and cried to God, and answers to you prayers seem not to be evident, you must not remain resolutely faithful to him. You must always believe He is there, and near to you, and remain committed to serving Him whether or not you see answers to you problems.
A close friend who is a born again Christian once told me a relevant story. His first-born child was sick to the point of death; unfortunately he did not have enough funds to take her to the Hospital for medical treatment. It was not even a case of not having enough funds, he said he did not have any funds at all, not even a pence, being unemployed for over a year. Of course prayers were said for divine healing, but the sickness persisted. When all hope seemed to be lost, my friend said that he and his wife once more knelt down, but they did not pray for healing for the child, but rather they told God that even if the child die in their laps, as it seemed she would, they will still continue to serve God!
This simple pledge of faith worked wonders. According to my friend, few moments after they made this confession, somebody unexpectedly walked in to the house and gave them some funds far above what they needed to secure medical treatment for the ailing child. The lesson form this real life story is that works without faith is unfruitful. In most cases, God has heard our prayers, but he is waiting to see our faith before he moves on our behalf. If my friend had grumbled, wept and lamented instead of exercising child like fait, maybe God would not had intervened and the child would have died.
CHAPTER SEVEN
Possess the Sword
F
inally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with the truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit…. Ephesians 6:10-18
T
he Word of God is your sword to fight all spiritual battles, and you are guaranteed of emerging a victor, a conqueror, and an overcomer in Jesus name. The Word of God is your ammunition against all the devices of the enemies of wickedness. Jesus has given you to sword; do not allow it to remain idle. Jesus is the Word. John 1:1. Jesus is your deliverer. But Jesus will not deliver you from you afflictions unless you have faith in His Word and put it to action. Deploy the sword to use today. Your battles are not physical, therefore they could not be fought with bare hands or brawn; your battles are spiritual. The Word of God is your spiritual incantation, the sword of the spirit, the double edge sword, and the weapon to fight the good fight of faith, through prayers, fasting, praise, worship, and faith. Jesus has claimed victories for you. Take up the shield of faith and possess your victories with His sword.
How do you possess and use the Word? Read it, memorise it, digest it, chant it, chew it, confess it, based your prayers on it, and believe in it in Jesus name

31. Zech 14:12:This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.
32. Mark 16:17-18: And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” NKJV

CHAPTER EIGHT
Deliverance Prayers
Notes:
i. The prayers under listed are not magical, and cannot possibly be magical. It is therefore advised that they should not be prayed without a clear understanding of the word of God.
