Opening Song: You Are the Healing

Entrance Song: Hosea

Come back to me with all you heart.

Don’t let fear keep us apart.

Trees do bend, though straight and tall.

So must we to others call.

Long have I waited for your coming home to me and living, deeply our new life.

Sign of the Cross:

Greeting:

Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Jesus Christ his Son be with you in truth and love.

R. And with your spirit

Opening Prayer:

Lord, hear the prayers of those who call on you, forgive the sins of those who confess to you, and in your merciful love give us your pardon and your peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

R – Amen

Reading: Luke 5:17-26 The Healing of a Paralytic

One day as Jesus was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem, and the power of the Lord was with him for healing. And some men brought on a stretcher a man who was paralyzed; they were trying to bring him in and set [him] in his presence. But not finding a way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on the stretcher through the tile into the middle in front of Jesus. When he saw their faith, he said, “As for you, your sins are forgiven. “Then the scribes and Pharisees began to ask themselves, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who but God alone can forgive sins?” Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them in reply, “What are you thinking in your hearts? Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, rise, pick up your stretcher, and go home.” He stood up immediately before them, picked up what he had been lying on, and went home, glorifying God. Then astonishment seized them all and they glorified God, and, struck with awe, they said, “We have seen incredible things today.”

Homily followed by an Examination of Conscience:

Individual Reconciliation and Absolution

God and Father of us all, you have forgiven our sins and sent us your peace. Help us to forgive each other and to work together to establish peace in our families and our community. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ… R - Amen

May the Lord guide your hearts in the way of his love and fill you with Christ-like patience… R - Amen

May he give you strength to walk in newness of life and to please him in all things... R - Amen

May almighty God bless you, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit… R – Amen
