Hello everyone, E-mail 1I hope you are all keeping well as we enter this time of uncertainty. I hope to keep in touch with you all through this mailing which I hope to send out three time a week and then something for Sundays. We will also be posting information on the church web site and our face-book page. There will be a prayer diary with items to add to your daily prayers and if you wish to follow a daily routine of prayer we will give you internet sites to visit that may be of interest. I thought I would also add a section called “Prayers of the Saints”. Wait and see.I will be putting out a bible reading course for you to follow or maybe two – 1 easy and 1 a little more involved. You can follow one or both as you wish. And so this is the first mailing. Candle PrayersCandles have often had their place within the worship of the Church of England. They sit on our Altar’s and illuminate the liturgy for the priest to read. In many churches, Church of England as well as the Catholic Church, there will be a stand or place where people can light a candle as a prayer, for a loved one, for a difficulty or to say thank you for answered prayer. A lit candle reminds us of the countless number of prayers said aloud or quietly, in the heart of a person, down through the ages from the time of Christ to the present day. Candles remind us of the light of Christ that came into the world to forgive and save humankind. And finally lighting a candle invites the presence of the Holy Spirit to join with us and guide our prayers and that is always a good way to start our prayers before going on to our normal routine of daily prayer. You will need six tealights or candles and matches or a lighter. So, this morning we pray and place before God the life of our world and we light this candle to remind us that the love of God is like a light in our darkness. Blessed be God for ever. When so many are far from family, friends or loved ones, we light a candle for all those we cannot be physically present with. Blessed be God for ever. We light a candle for all who are sick, all who are in hospital, all who struggle with pain, fear and sadness, and all who are grieving this day. Blessed be God for ever. We light a candle for all who are isolated, lonely and worried at this time. Blessed be God for ever. We light a candle for all those who care for others, whether as family or friends, or as doctors, nurses, carers and all the health professionals we are so deeply thankful for. Blessed be God for ever. We light a candle for those who at this time are homeless or living rough on our streets, many unable to access the help they may need in the coming days. Blessed be God for ever.Heavenly Father, you give us so much and ask so little from us. Please be with us at this time. Take away our inward fears, help us to look up and outward in love and fellowship. That our prayers for others may be heard and your love flow out through our words to a worried and fearful world. Amen.Savour Jesus, you gave your life to save the peoples of this world. Save us now from the fear of becoming ill, from passing this to others that we love and the fear of dying. The fear of being left alone and no one coming to help us. Enfold us in your loving arms and turn our fears to moments of joy. Amen. Most Holy Spirit, you have guided our prayers through all the turmoil of life. Guide us now in our prayers for ourselves and those we pray for. Help us to move through each day drawing closer in our relationship with our Triune God yesterday, today and tomorrow. Amen.35242505080Dear God our Shield and our Defender, guide and protect my neighbours in this time of health emergency;deliver them from all harmand may your love and care ever grow in this place.Through Jesus Christ, Our Lord, Amen. With love and prayers to you allMarion xx ................
