Group of seven carved stone standing figures. The tallest is depicted with a swollen stomach, probably indicating pregnancy. A medium green-black speckled hardstone example with round breasts. Together with five additional examples of various types, two having Olmecoid influence. The largest example has an ancient chip on her right front leg, otherwise all are intact. Three different single strand necklaces including one composed of fortythree speckled green jadeite beads having a large round bead in the center, various round and cylindrical beads in graduated sizes. Together with a necklace composed of thirty speckled green jadeite beads, with larger ball and tubular examples. Finally, a necklace composed of mostly round carnelian and speckled jadeite beads, interspersed with fourteen silver shell and floral type pendant beads. All modern strung with silver clasps. Two polychrome decorated pottery examples including a bowl and a funnel form footed chalice. Both have exterior bands of zigzag decoration. Both are hollow orangeware seated figures. The larger exhibits a Chinesco influence with elongated head, incised ear ornaments, and applied multi ring type arms. Including a Mezcala carved black stone seated monkey. Perforated at the top for suspension. Missing the upper tail curl, otherwise intact. Together with a Jalisco standing female figure having a white slip surface with a few scattered traces of red-brown painted details. Wagner, CA., to current owner by inheritance. Both are pottery examples including a Colima standing figure holding his erect penis, wearing a disc type helmet with a chin strap. Some remaining ocher surface pigment, scattered mineral deposits and root marks. Front tip of left foot reattached and a chip on the front rim of headdress, otherwise intact. Red-brown pottery lobed figural vessel having an upper strap handle and lower connection tube. Depicting a figure standing at the front of the vessel holding both hands to his chest. Wearing a pointed headdress with a central crescent. Orange-brown ground with wide cream stripes across his face and remains of black resist geometric decoration on his body. Depicted in a roosting position, long bill head to his chest. Red-brown and cream ground with painted red-brown details. A few scattered areas of mineral deposits. Spout reattached with restoration over the breaklines. Some scattered minor paint losses and light pitting on the upper portion of the left wing, an area of resurfacing on the right wing. Together with a Nayarit head and two Maya zoomorphic heads. Finally, three different molded pottery Maya support legs, each decorated with different low relief faces. 464. Two Chancay Vessels Chancay. Ca. 800-1200 A.D. 9-1/2" & 8-3/8"H. Ex. private West Virginia collection, acquired late 1960s to early 1970s. To present owner by descent. Both are chocolate paint on white pottery, hollow vessels, first in human form, the arms forming loops, with hands held to the temples. Body bears low relief breasts and tint feet at bottom. Significant part of headdress restores, arms reglued. Together wit a round-bodied vessel with relief bird head becking on a smaller skate or sting ray. Low relief feet and wings on vessel.
