Developmental Preschool Classroom Rules and Consequences

Developmental Preschool Classroom Rules and Consequences

When/if a child requires discipline; the staff will use the following procedure unless a child has a specific behavior plan. We want our students to be responsible, respectful and safe.

First time- Staff will talk to the child and give him and/or her a reminder/redirection

Second time- warning and verbal reminder (stick moves to yellow on the stop light)

Third time- Time out (thinking chair) and stick moves to red on stop light. The child will sit away from the other children and parents are notified by a note or phone call

Aggressive behavior such as hitting, kicking, biting or throwing things at others will result in an automatic time- out. If needed, the child will be removed from the classroom to calm down and his/her parents will be notified.

Classroom Rules

• We will listen to others when they are talking (respectful)

• We will be nice to others and use kind words or actions (respectful)

• We will put our toys/materials away after using them (responsible)

• We will keep our hands and feet to ourselves (safe)

• We will walk in the hallway (PBIS) and around the classroom (safe)

• We will not use our voices in our hallway (PBIS) (respectful)
