POSITION PURPOSE

The Preschool Director is responsible for all aspects of programming, planning and implementing the daily program for Hope Lutheran’s Preschool in order to fulfill Hope Lutheran’s mission… “to encourage all people to know the love of Christ.”

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Preschool Center Development

a. Implement and oversee enrollment for program throughout the year.

b. Cultivate and enhance exemplary Christian learning and work environment.

c. Train, support and encourage staff skills in developmentally appropriate practice, quality of interaction and augmentation of rich learning environment.

d. Monitor maintenance and acquisition of materials, supplies and equipment.

e. Train, support and encourage appropriate and effective behavior guidance practice.

f. Create implement and maintain policies, procedures, and guidance plans for Preschool operations and personnel.

g. Develop curriculum, plan daily and weekly schedules in cooperation with preschool teachers.

2. Personnel, Administration, Supervision

a. Effectively manage program staffing and personnel development including, but not limited to, recruiting, hiring, training, coaching and evaluating performance.

b. Maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies including, but not limited to DHS, OSHA, Department of Labor, State of North Dakota.

c. Facilitate regular staff meeting and training opportunities.

d. Conduct annual comprehensive program and quality assessment including input from preschool families, staff and church.

e. Maintain program compliance with Hope Early Learning Center employee policies.

3. Operations and Financial Management

a. Develop annual budget in conjunction with the Director of the Early Learning Center.

b. Monitor financial status, evaluate, recommend and implement changes as needed.

c. Develop and oversee effective processes for registration, enrollment and fee collection.

d. Coordinate purchasing and processing of invoices and receipts with church business office.

e. Process Human Resource documents for new employees and payroll.

f. Develop a plan for maintenance of childcare facilities with Facilities Supervisor.

4. Service, Outreach Ministry, Communications

a. Model Christian faith values and practices as a representative of the Early Childhood Ministry of Hope Lutheran Church.

b. Design and implement family and other events to encourage community building, support, and family education.

c. Effectively and regularly communicate with program parents

d. Implement, monitor, or participate in parent-teacher conferences.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field

2. Demonstrated experience (3-5 years) in supervision and administration of an early childhood program

3. Proven competency in program financial management

4. Demonstrated personal characteristics consistent with the requirements of licensing and the expectations of Hope Lutheran Church

5. Certified in child CPR/AED/First Aid

6. Must be of good mental and physical health, capable of mature judgment, and possess knowledge and experience in management, and interpersonal relationships

7. Demonstrate the ability to work with children, and the willingness to increase skills and competence through experience, training, and supervision

8. Ability to develop and maintain a working relationship with parents and staff

9. Certify attendance at a minimum of 13 hours of county-approved training annually
