D) Reflexive Verbs (p.7)–

- Reflexive verbs are used to talk about what people do for or to themselves

- The action reflects back on the person doing it (I brush my hair. I get myself up.)

-Many of these verbs have to do with daily routine activities.

- Reflexive verbs ALWAYS use a REFLEXIVE PRONOUN

- If you have one conjugated verb in a sentence, the pronoun comes BEFORE the verb.

Ex: Me levanto a las seis.

- If you have 2 verbs (ex: conjugated + infinitive), you have 2 OPTIONS for pronoun placement (either before the conjugated verb or attached to the infinitive.

Ex: Me voy a levanter a las seis. OR Voy a levantarme a las seis.

E) Verbs like Gustar (p.11)– Gustar and its friends are very different from other verbs!

- The verb still aggress with the subject, but the subject comes AFTER the verb!

I like the shoes. > Shoes would be the subject, so… Me gustan los zapatos. NOT Me gusto!!

- Gustar verbs are ALWAYS used with an INDIRECT OBJECT PRONOUN

- Use the he/she/it form of the verb if the subject is an infinitive. (We like to dance) Nos gusta bailar.

- Possessive adjectives agree in NUMBER and GENDER with the nouns they modify (the nouns that are RIGHT BESIDE THEM – to the right) *It is easy to get confused sometimes and try to make them agree with the subject!
