Prezi presentations offer a modern and engaging alternative to traditional PowerPoint slides. The training session that this workbook accompanies aims to give you the knowledge and skills to be able to design, create and present memorable presentations using Prezi. The course has been completely updated for the latest version of Prezi, Prezi Next. Before you begin the tasks, sign-up for a free educational Prezi account by visiting: and following the instructions.Do ensure you type the address in exactly as it appears above. This will create an “Edu Standard” account that is free and offers privacy controls for your presentation.Task 1 – Getting Started with PreziIn this workbook, you will create a Prezi presentation for a presentation topic of your choice. Begin by choosing a topic for your presentation that interests you. Create a new Prezi presentation based off an appropriate template. You should spend a few minutes exploring and previewing the templates available and choose one that reflects the topic or structure of your presentation. The templates are divided into categories. Each template has a skill rating (Novice, Skilled or Master) that indicates how difficult they are to use. Click on a template to view a preview.Once you have created the presentation, begin adding content:Customise the overview page – add your presentation’s title and your name.Think about the first topic that would like to present on.Change the text on the topic cover for one of your topics.Zoom to that topic and customise the content within the topic. For example, add some text, change the formatting or reposition elements.Rename your presentation and save it. Help? Images are more interesting memorable and engaging than text. Add a YouTube video to a different topic. Help? You might choose to utilise:Icons & symbols – as these are “vector” images they scale better than images when zooming in; there are hundreds to choose from.Shapes – standard geometric shapes can be added, with different colour options based on the colour scheme of the presentation. After adding a shape, the outline (border) and fill of shapes can be customised through the toolbar.Arrows & Lines – as well as resizing and recolouring, lines can be bent to create curvy lines.Audio – sound clips can be added.PDF – pages from PDFs can be embedded into your Prezi presentations. Task 3: Structure and StyleIn this section, we will explore how to structure a Prezi presentation, but first we will look at the styling options that are available.Part A: StyleUse the Style menu Background… to experiment with different backgrounds. Click the ellipsis (…) next to Background to choose one:2240223120088900There are a number of free images that can be used as a background, or you can upload an image from your computer (or search the web for one, save it, then upload).Use the Colors option on the Style menu to choose a new colour scheme for your presentation.TIP: Prezi templates use colour schemes that offer good contrast between the foreground and background. Ensure that you maintain good contrast if you customise the background or colours. Help? The canvas is divided into topics, these topics can contain subtopics that can be used deliver content at the right moment for your audience. The Prezi canvas is structured as follows:Overview – this is the first thing that you see when you open a presentation; it is the main level of your presentation canvas. The overview contains topics…Topics – topics show your big ideas. When presenting, clicking on a topic cover will zoom to that topic. Topics can contain subtopics…Subtopics – subtopics organise details and are designed to reveal content when you are ready to present it. There are two types of subtopic:Planet – planets have subtopics that orbit the main idea. They are a good option when presenting content in a non-linear manner. You can begin a conversation with your audience and zoom in to the relevant topic when needed.Stack – stacks contain pages of content that are displayed in a linear fashion, similarly to PowerPoint. Story Blocks – Story Blocks can be added to any topic, subtopic or page. Story Blocks are containers for content. For example, you can use a Story Block to add an organisational chart, a timeline, or map, or you use it to structure your content, e.g “Large image & left text”. Story Blocks are similar to Layouts in PowerPoint. From the Overview screen, add a new topic to your presentation. Choose either a Planet or Stack topic type.Use a Story Block to add some content to your topic. Pick something that you would like to expand upon and add a subtopic that will allow you to explore it in more detail. Help? Animation can be added to text, images, videos, topics or subtopics. In addition, the zoom animation can be used to zoom to any area of the canvas. To add animation, right-click on the content and choose Add animation or use Insert Animation.Pick an object – text, image, video, topic or subtopic – that you would like to draw you audience’s attention to.Add a fade in animation to the object. Now choose an area of your presentation that you would like to emphasise and add a zoom area to zoom in to that object or area of the canvas. Help? Search Prezi Support for: Using animationsTask 4: Presenting and SharingUse the Present button (or Ctrl+P) to begin your presentation. Prezi presentations can be delivered linearly - by using the next/previous buttons and slider at the bottom of the screen, or non-linearly – by clicking on a topic when you are ready.Prezi presentations can be shared in two ways:A link to view the presentation can be created. This link can then be shared in whichever way you want – e.g. email, social media, web page.Collaborators can be added to the presentation, this allows others to edit the presentation. These actions can be completed by going to your My presentations page, hovering over the presentation, then clicking on the ellipsis:213931555181500From that screen, you can also set the privacy setting for your presentation. Finally, you can create a copy of your presentation (the final button in the screenshot below), which can be useful as a form of backup. 460057520320000172402680645000 Help?
