This is carried out in conjunction with the Associate Dean (Education and the Student Experience) and the Head of Southampton Business School. The Director of Programmes has responsibility for the design, development and continual improvement of the programmes and their assessment. In order to achieve this (s)he is expected to:Develop and improve the design of the programmes in line with feedback from major stakeholders through the annual evaluation process.Ensure that the programme/module learning outcomes meet the requirements of the appropriate subject benchmark standard/s as laid down by the Quality Assurance Agency and other Profession, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies.Ensure that the assessment process supports learning and demonstrates attainment of the learning outcomes.Ensure that the programme specifications for the programmes are up-to-date and contain clear reference to policies and procedures, academic regulations, assessment strategies and learning & teaching strategiesThe Director of Programmes has responsibility for ensuring that students receive appropriate academic and pastoral support on the programmes. In order to achieve this (s)he is expected to ensure that:Students receive timely and appropriate feedbackStudents are informed of appropriate academic and professional information. Students are made aware of the University’s student support systems.Tutors and staff involved in the programme receive relevant information about students enrolled on the programme.The Director of Programmes has responsibility for the quality assurance of the programmes. In order to achieve this (s)he is expected to:Consult students and other stakeholdersLiaise with the Associate Dean (Education and Student Experience)Ensure reports are prepared for internal and external monitoring and evaluationBe responsible for review of modules relevant to the group of programmesProvide accurate and appropriate documentation and evidence for assessment, evaluation, programme review and accreditation.The Director of Programmes has responsibility for the effective running of the programmes. In order to achieve this (s)he is expected to:Play a key role, along with the appropriate Admissions Tutor/s, in the recruitment, selection and admission of students to the programmes.Chair regular meetings of the programme delivery team.Be responsible for liaison with external examiners.
