RBC Students and Parents,

RBC Students and Parents,In preparation for the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year, the Math Department requires students to complete Summer Math Packets according to the classes they are scheduled to take. In previous years, these packets have been printable documents that the students must bring to school completed in September. However, this year we are continuing to integrate technology into our Summer Math Packets through the use of Study Island, a website that allows students to see a lesson, take an assessment, and get instant feedback on their results. Below you will find instructions for accessing Study Island, as well as the required Study Island assessments for each RBC mathematics course. Please only complete the assessments required for the course(s) you are scheduled to take. We look forward to meeting you in September,RBC Mathematics DepartmentInstructions for accessing Study Island:Go to on the internet browser of your choice.Using your school computer log-in information, enter your username and password in the boxes on the left to enter the website. You will be taken to The Island, the high school portion of Study Island. To get to the Mathematics assessments, click on the Math link at the top of the page.Find the category specified below for the class you will be taking under the heading “National Programs”. Click the appropriate category. A topic list will appear after your selection. Choose a topic from the required list attached by clicking on the topic title. On the next screen, make sure the Session Type is Test Mode, choose 10 questions from the drop-down menu, and click Next.Answer all 10 multiple choice questions by clicking on your answer choice, then clicking Next Question once the correct choice has been found. After the last question, click End Study Session.Study Island will automatically record and store all of the information on the website for the teachers to access in September.Important notes regarding Study Island:RETURNING RBC STUDENTS: You MUST complete the BASIC SKILLS topics again for the 2014-2015 school year. Any tests completed prior to June 2014 will not count towards this year’s Study Island assignment. You must complete all of the required topics listed below for each applicable course. Grades may be based on completion, so be sure to attempt all of the topics listed. You may only complete one topic at a time. In order to complete a topic, a session score of 70% (7 correct out of 10 questions) is required. NOTE: The required score is for a single 10 question test, NOT the average score of all attempts. Please DO NOT attempt any single topic more than 3 times (no more than 30 total questions per topic)Tests must be completed in sets of 10. Completing 4 questions during one test session and 6 questions during another does not count as a 10 questions test.To see an overview of a specific topic, click on the word “Lesson” next to each title before taking the test. Also during the test, you can click the “Explanation” box once the correct answer is chosen to find out why that answer is correct.Required Topics by Math CourseYou will need to complete all topics listed under the course that you are scheduled to take in to 2014-2015 school year. All categories can be found by clicking the button labeled “US Programs” on the left side of the screen.CP Algebra ICategory: Comprehensive Developmental Courses (Math)2.a.
