Work Experience Activity Files
Work Experience Activity Files -
Transition Level 2
Instructions
Enclosed are the electronic files for the Transition Work Experience Activities for the Golf Professional Training Program. These are to be used in completing the Activities for submission with your Work Experience Kit. In offering these electronic files, the PGA assumes that apprentices know how to load and access files, as well as well as perform basic word-processing functions.
Make sure you have the correct disk
Enclosed is a PC-formatted disk. Should you require a Macintosh-formatted disk, please contact a Membership Information Service Center (MISC) Representative at 1-800-474-2776.
About the Files
The files were created in Microsoft Word and are available for both PC and Macintosh computers. They are in Rich Text Format (.rtf) and should be readable to all computer programs and platforms. If you have a problem opening the files, contact technical support offered by your computer company. The PGA is not able to provide technical assistance in translating files.
The files on the disk are named as acronyms:
Level 2:
PSCT PreSem wea.rtf = Philosophy and Swing Concepts of Teaching Pre-Seminar
MIM PreSem wea.rtf = Merchandising and Inventory Management Pre-Seminar
SD PreSem wea.rtf = Supervising and Delegating Pre-Seminar
Also included are the following text files:
Trans_checklist2.rtf
Trans_coverpage2.rtf
Before you Begin
The files are "read-only." Before you can work on them, therefore, you must save them to your hard drive with another name. To do that, simply change the extension (document type) to .doc (if you have Word), i.e. PSCT PreSem wea.rtf “saved as” PSCT PreSem wea.doc. If you have another word processing application, name your document appropriately.
Completing the Activities
1. The text is pre-formatted and answers are inserted into table cells. Next to or below each statement, a table cell appears. Place your cursor in the cell and type. Your answer will appear in a larger font (Times New Roman 12) and color (green in Level 1, blue in Level 2, and dark red in Level 3 and Electives) to clearly denote it from the questions. Neither the cells nor the color will appear in the printout, unless you're using color toner.
As you enter text into the document, don't worry about it spilling over onto another page. The document's formatting will keep questions and answers together, and the next activity will follow on its own page.
Note: The small black boxes to the left of the lines (if you have the formatting turned on) indicate the formatting style that keeps paragraphs together. They will not appear on your printout.
2. Some activities are not contained in the electronic file. There may be some incidences where space is not allotted for an activity. In these cases, complete the activities separately and insert them behind the appropriate tab.
3. When you complete an Activity, run a spell check, print out and proofread it carefully. When you are satisfied that the activity has been accurately completed, insert it behind the appropriate tab.
4. Refer to the Inventory Checklist to make sure you have completed all of the required Work Experience Activities.
5. The PGA strongly suggests that you make a backup copy of your completed Work Experience Kit prior to submitting it for evaluation.
