Theoretical knowledge that performs the basis of instrumentation technology is learned as the student studies controllers, recorders, indicators, final control elements, analyzers in depth. Added to this is the theory of control loop performance expectations and tuning solutions and procedures.Learning ObjectivesDescribe the measurement of pressure, temperature, level, flow, and other process variables; design a control system and draw loop, block and wiring diagrams; and calibrate associated equipment.Specific Tasks AccomplishedUpon completion of this course, the student should be able to:Operate, tear down, rebuild and bench set a control valve and actuatorInstall and calibrate a positioner and I/P transducer and filter/regulatorHook up a control loop using a controller, recorder, and indicatorDemonstrate an understanding of process control theory by tuning loopsExplain the process control, environmental, and productivity importance of analyzers and monitors in modern industry.AttendanceAttendance is required and absences must be made up. Shift workers and others with attendance problems must discuss this matter privately with the Instructor. Tardiness and leaving before class dismissal may accumulate as absences. After the third excused or unexcused absence a student should be dropped.Classroom ConductNO cell phones, pagers, disrespect, tobacco, or harassmentEvidence of these things in the classroom is your request to be dropped.Grading PolicyYour grade will be determined from....Module exams averaged = 50%Lab exercises averaged = 20%Midterm = 10%Final = 20% Textbook and Supplies Requirement:12204-03 Process Control Theory ISBN 0-13-103267-412206-03 Controllers, Recorders, and Indicators ISBN 0-13-103270-412207-03 Control Valves, Actuators, and Positioners ISBN 0-13-103271-212211-03 Analyzers and Monitors ISBN 0-13-103275-512405-03 Loop Tuning ISBN 0-13-109615-XInstrumentation by Kirk ISBN 0-8269-3423-4-ATPToolsThe Academic Honesty Code with Disabilities ................
