Job title: Product Manager Directorate:Digital Reporting to:Director of Product ManagementApproximate number of direct reports: Day to day leadership of a multidisciplinary team of 8-12 people. You’ll sit at the crossroads between science, technology and user experience. We’ll look to you to root out and clarify user needs with product managers, engineers, bioinformaticians, researchers and designers; talk with and listen to patients, participants, clinicians and researchers in the field, and become an expert in helping deploy genomic testing into the NHS and help our users process the results to make better healthcare decisions. Your ultimate goal will be to prioritise effectively and remove blockers so your multidisciplinary team can discover and create products that are easy to use, feasible to build, and loved by our users. We have lots of ongoing projects currently at different stages, from discovery to alpha, beta and live. Key accountabilities:Articulate the product vision to the teamLead, organise, inspire and unblock designers, developers, data scientists and others within the multidisciplinary team with sharp analysis and well-communicated decisionsDesign the roadmap for product creation, breaking up delivery into meaningful, achievable goalsPlan the pipeline and make sure wherever possible, tech and design patterns are reusedInterpret how customers use our live products and translate that data into new opportunities for features that solve real problemsTranslate user needs into compelling stories designers can use to draw user flows and interactions, and developers can use to build the productIdentify opportunities for innovation and efficiency, and turn these insights into concrete outcomes that align with our strategyDefine how your products get held to account, and make sure those metrics get tracked, including commercial accountabilityAdvocate and promote work across GEL to encourage champions and early adoptersKnow and understand the meaning behind our virtues of Empathy, Integrity, Focus, Connection, Speed, Curiosity, Impact and embody them in all aspects of your role.Essential skills:Experience taking a product from discovery to running liveExperience of leading a team, including ability to mentor, coach and create a collaborative environment Experience building and navigating complex, data heavy product suites Experience of agile development/delivery of digital servicesSuccessful at (and enjoy) collaborating with people from a variety of backgrounds Able to influence a range of stakeholders at a variety of seniorities but also willing to listen and take on board other opinions and ideasHighly proactive and a practical problem solver who likes to figure stuff out rather than explaining why it can't be done.
