ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage engineering resources for the Outreach School's video and audio production and conferencing campus and statewide facilities.Research, develop, design, and plan engineering resources and facilities for new technology delivery systems.Perform engineering repair and maintenance tasks for Outreach facilities, equipment and systems ensuring efficient and timely repair and maintenance in all areas.Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff.Plan and prepare budgets, bids, work schedules, engineering hardware, equipment, and purchase requisitions; maintain property inventory.Monitor compliance with University, state, and federal laws, regulations and policies relevant to the Outreach School's engineering.SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art equipment and technology.Consult on engineering needs for other on-campus media programs and operations when related to the Outreach School's programs and services.May travel to statewide Outreach facility sites as PETENCIES:Technical/Professional Knowledge Delegating Responsibility Strategic Planning Quantity of Work Quality OrientationIntegrity Individual LeadershipAttention to Detail MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Bachelor’s degreeExperience: 3 years work-related experienceRequired education, licensure, certification, registration, or other requirement:Valid driver's license Valid low-voltage electrical license is required within two years of the hire dateKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of:Basic, routine, advanced and expert engineering of telecommunication technology equipment and systems. Basic, routine, advanced and expert broadcasting principles, methods and practices. Television broadcast technical requirements and specialized equipment. Audio and video conferencing systems and equipment. Basic, routine, advanced and expert electronics troubleshooting and repair principles. Basic, routine, and advanced construction drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and specifications. Testing basic, routine, and advanced electronic equipment for compatibility and safety. Occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. Applicable University, federal, state and/or local codes, rules and regulations. Design and development of engineering systems. Knowledge of current technological developments and trends in area of expertise. Supervisory methods and techniques. Budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures. Skills and Abilities to:Perform low-voltage electrical and mechanical maintenance and repairs to electronic equipment and systems. Read basic, routine, and advanced schematic plans or blueprints. Configure current equipment with new parts or new technology. Coordinate and integrate instructional technologies, as applicable to distance education, and production systems in higher education environment. Communicate clearly, concisely and effectively both orally and in writing. Meet conflicting deadlines through time and project management. Prepare budget and manage fiscal accounts. Maintain effective supervisory relationships. Make effective decisions and judgments impacting projects. Determine labor, equipment, and material costs on projects. Use personal computers with applicable software/hardware applications. Work as a team member and foster a cooperative work environment. WORKING CONDITIONS:Standard office environment; regularly works with transmitters, television and radio equipment; occasional travel to transmitter sites.?Authorized by Classification/Compensation, Human ResourcesEmployees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
