CLASS CODE: 3717 PAY GRADE: 418 CLASS TITLE: ART AND PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR - SES ALLOCATION FACTOR(S) This is work supervising a staff designing, developing, and producing materials of art and production features. The primary duty of the employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class is to spend a major portion of the time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating employees, planning and directing their work; and having the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward or discipline subordinate employees or to effectively recommend such actions.EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: (Note: The examples of work as listed in this class specification are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. Motivates employees to improve the quality and quantity of work performed.Plans work loads, work flows, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with employees.Evaluates employees through establishing evaluation criteria and responsibilities and meeting regularly with employees to ensure the established criteria are met.Trains employees in methods for performing an effective and efficient municates on a regular basis with employees both individually and in staff meetings.Directs the work of employees to ensure best use of time and resources.Plans and forms the aesthetic design for printed educational or promotional material.Implements policies governing layouts, art selections, production of literature, mailing, prices, folders, posters, and other related areas.Monitors and evaluates the development of information/education materials to assure conformance with media graphics and graphic arts standards and goals of the department.Supervises and participates in designing layouts for all publications prepared by the department; consults with staff members on the layout and selection of art work, paper, and the style of printing for educational material.Prepares bid specifications on graphics, art work, and printing contracted by the department.Works with mass media in the production and concept of stories, photographs, features and illustrations designed to inform the public and/or departmental employees of departmental program responsibilities.Performs related work as required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (Note: The knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) identified in this class specification represent those needed to perform the duties of this class.
