DATE:May 2020 POSITION TITLE:Project Manager – New Centre BuildsLOCATION:AucklandREPORTS TO:General Manager of Finance & Shared ServicesDIRECT REPORTS:NilPURPOSE: The Project Manager is responsible for the successful development and delivery of the SPCA centre builds in Gisborne, Whangarei, and Auckland. The project provides an opportunity to be part of a team that designs ‘fit-for-purpose, best practice centres to treat, care for, house our animals, and provide ergonomic facilities for the people that care for them. This role will suit individuals that can combine strong project management skills and experience with the ability to work collaboratively across internal and external functions and services and infrastructure providers. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide leadership, management, and coordination of the centre build projectsOverall end-to-end responsibility for the build projects;Develop and manage, in consultation and conjunction with the project team and senior management, an integrated programme of activity to build identified centres;Proactively and collaboratively work with the project team, senior management, professional service and construction partners to design, blueprint, tender for, appoint build partners, build and implement centres;Ensure in conjunction with senior management and the project team that adequate internal and external resources are allocated to the project;Ensure that all regulatory and legal requirements are complied with;Develop industry/external partnerships as appropriate;Manage any contractors and subcontractors as required;Proactively monitor all project progress, resolving issues and manage any delays to the timing of each stage, including where any dependencies are not being met, initiating appropriate corrective actions;Arbitrate and resolve conflict and interface problems within the project;Develop and monitor trigger events that could require contingency plan implementations; andDetermine what constitutes successful closure for all parties. Gain acceptance and sign-off from required parties when the closure of a milestone is attained and or an area is handed over. Ensure responsibility for the completed area is then formally handed over and accepted by relevant management.Maintain focus and awareness of the project within and outside of the SPCAPositive stakeholder management within and outside of the SPCA, with a focus on energising individuals, collaboration, and delivering outcomes; andLiaising with the marketing and communications team to maintain awareness, focus and promotion of the builds.Budgeting, recording & reporting, and financial analysis Responsible for the financial planning, recording, monitoring, and reporting on the centre builds;Ensure all financial data is collected, recorded, and accurately reported on;Prepare actual and forecast reports to keep management informed of costs, forecasts, and changes; andEnsure that stakeholder processes are followed to mitigate financial and other risks to SPCA.Support process improvement groups and projects across the organisation Carry out project work and case studies as requested;Actively participate in these groups as required;Actively contribute to health & safety Comply with health and safety legislation and regulations;Take responsibility for your health and safety and ensure no action or inaction on your part harms others in the workplace;Contribute towards the development and implementation of policies and procedures that ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act (2015);Aware of and can identify hazards and risks to which the organisation may be exposed and takes appropriate action accordingly; andKnows of and can apply emergency procedures.Carries out other duties as required from time to timeThe duties and responsibilities described above should not be construed as a complete and exhaustive list, as it is not the intention to limit the scope of the functions of the position. Duties and responsibilities can be amended from time to time by the SPCA to meet any changing condition.INTERNAL FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Senior Leadership Team;Project Team;Centre Management Leadership; andProperty and Facilities Manager.EXTERNAL FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:Contractors, external suppliers, partner organisations, commercial and business associates; andLocal government regulators.PERSON SPECIFICATION:Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience Previous proven success with project management in medium to large, complex organisations;Hold a tertiary qualification in relevant disciplines;Have relevant industry and project management experience and knowledge of common project management methodologies;Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, and controlling projects; Sound business case development skills;Experienced and proficient in forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis;Excellent communication and report writing skills, and the ability to write support cases are essential.Understanding and experienced in procurement processes including negotiations with third parties;Commercially astute and experienced;Able to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project team; andRemain calm under pressure and be able to juggle various projects at differing life cycles.Personal AttributesThe ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems;Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team;Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills;The ability to collaborate and develop positive relationships is essential;Ability to meet deadlines, cope well under pressure and achieve revenue targets; andAbility to manage confidential information with responsibility and integrity. ................
