Division 1 – Paul Donnelly: there are 3 teams of 13; 2 teams of 12 players. All is going

well.

Division 2 – Dave Noonan (for B. Hastings): 8 teams; some teams have had injuries or other issues, so there are teams with shorter rosters.

Seconded by Noonn.

Motion Passed without dissent

Division 3 – Connolly: 3 teams of 13 and 2 teams of 12. The PEAC will tweak rosters

Today.

Master’s Division – Bowen: There are 24 players and they are having fun. It’s working as it should.

Old Business:

a) Cuban Games Liaison

The Commissioner appointed John Hession, as Chair with Richie Barber and Bob Callahan assisting. These names have been forwarded to Eastern Mass.

The support of the Cape Chamber of Commerce is tremendous it is a win-win for all.

b) Screens – Warde/McCluskey

Pitching screens are now at all fields

Mike McCluskey talked about some fielding strategies using the pitching screen to a team’s advantage.

Bob Warde polled the umpires regarding the pitching screen, to see if there were any major problems or issues. None was reported. He will do it again before the next meeting.

c) Uniforms – Annesi

Uniforms will be here by the end of June

New Business:

a) Vendor policy – Salerno

This is a board policy: “anything over a $1000 must go out to bid”. This policy is

restrictive, especially with the cost of things today.

Motion by Donnelly to revise the ceiling to $3000 to go out to bid.

Seconded by Moran.

Passed without dissent

b) Memorial Memorial – Salerno

A league member suggested a memorial at Memorial field in remembrance to all the league Players that have died. The flag pole garden was the memorial-no action taken.

c) Registration Volunteer – Salerno/Marini

Marini not at meeting – postpone until a later date

d) League Reorganization - Salerno

We need to continually look at the league’s future:

Ad hoc committee assigned this task, members will be:

Brian Hastings, Bob Maruca, Dave Noonan, Hank Bowen and George Albert

e) Player Conduct Committee - Ad hoc

Dick Connolly, Chair

Mike McClusky

Terry Moran

f) Picnic date Changed

Picnic will be held on the 12th of July at Brewster VFW (originally scheduled for the 19th but there was a conflict at the Senior Center for the mid-season meeting.

We will now hold the General Mid-Season Meeting on July 19th instead of the 12th.

Vector Sports will do a demo at the picnic.

g) Tournament Software Purchase – Draeger

Software offered by Sport ngin (we already use their program for our website.)

This software will expedite the whole Classic experience, from scheduling, real time scoring, brackets etc. The cost is $1300, they are waving the set-up fee of $995.

You can run ads, and they will come up on the screen as people are checking scores.

There is also a mobile app for the program. Cost per year is $450. The Chamber has already donated $2000. The monies for this program will come out of the Classic fund.

Motion by Bowen to purchase the Tournament software package from ngin.

Seconded by Breault.

Passed without dissent.

h) Make-up Schedule – Moran

No problems, Managers have been very cooperative in playing double headers

-2-

i) Play-Off Schedule – Moran

Division 2 with 8 teams is a little more difficult to schedule. No decisions right now.

j) Travel team Policy

Charlie will email out for everyone to look at

k) Dick Halla raised concern regarding the Pool Player policy

He felt it needed clarification. Some clarification was provided to Dick and all present.

l) Baker Field – Salerno

B. Marcella is doing the best he can

No sprinkler system until NSTAR “voluntarily” installs the meter

Vin Van Norman will install the pump once the meter and fuse box are installed

There will be a lockbox installed to make the key to the shed accessible for those who need to get in.

Lawnmower is not strong enough to drag the field to and is too small to mow the entire field in a timely manner.

Would the board consider a “good enough” tractor to take care of the above?

Or Salerno could get a landscaper to mow the grass for $150 each time.

Let’s get some advice from professionals about which tractor would be best suited for our purposes: Chip Hayden and Bob Breault will research the tractors.

In the meantime, we will have the professional landscaper mow Baker

m) Mike McCluskey - Recruitment Suggestion

Let’s recruit while we are playing, people are on Cape NOW.

Use sandwich boards to advertise the league and the need of interested players (they

could be set up at the field, so that people driving by would see them. Put website info

on the board.

Mike will be in charge of this.

New recruits could be put in the pool, which would be a good way to control and evaluate.

Round Table:

Dave Noonan questioned if anyone was assigned to put the standings in the CC Times?

Paul Donnelly thanked Terry Moran the great job he has done with everything and especially the website.

Meeting Adjourned at 2:50 PM.

Next meeting July 7, 2014 at 1pm at the senior center.

Minutes submitted by: Judy Kennedy, Recording Secretary
