Position Summary: The human resource manager is directly responsible for the administration, coordination and management of human resources functions for a dynamic non-profit organic certifier, trade association and charitable foundation. The HR manger coordinates hiring, compensation, benefits, training and employee relations. The manager also advises supervisors and staff regarding employment regulations, policies and practices; ensures that organization practices are in compliance with local, state and federal requirements. The HR manager actively participates in the development and implementation of policies and practices related to human resources management. The HR manager supervises one HR specialist and is an exempt position reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO).

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will have the following:

? At least 4 years of experience managing a Human Resources department, preferably in a non- profit organization.

? PHR certification preferred. ? Strong knowledge of local, state and federal employment laws and regulations. ? Excellent communication skills. ? Excellent computer/technical skills (MS Office Suite required, PayChex/HRO a plus). ? Knowledge and understanding of organic food and agriculture a plus. ? Ability to lift 40 lbs. from ground to waist. ? Comfortable working in an open-office environment.

Primary Duties Plans, organizes and manages HR functions for the organization and participates in developing HR goals, objectives and systems. Develops, documents and recommends HR policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook. Works with C.O.O. to implement strategic initiatives as determined in annual workplans. Advise managers and supervisors to ensure compliance with internal policy as well as local, state and federal statutes and regulations.

Administers employee benefits and renewal in coordination with third party benefit administrators, and reviews and approves benefit invoices.

Administers annual employee reviews, including 360-degree reviews for supervisors. Administers annual employee engagement survey, and works with management to maintain

strong employee engagement. Conducts annual salary surveys and analyzes compensation; provides report to Executive

leadership. Successfully recruits for open positions, including interns and temporary employees. Coordinates new-employee orientations and continuing staff and management education and

training. Establishes and maintains organization records and reports. Maintains company organization charts and employee directory . Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continuous improvements of

HR services. Performs other duties and special projects as needed.
