The member locates appropriate resource materials, including as applicable, Plat maps, computer applications/databases, phone books, grid books and other appropriate sources/documents within a reasonable amount of time and provides inquiring person correct information in accordance with agency policies.

The member will receive requests for watch order checks/extra patrols and will accurately complete and submit WO/EP forms by end of the shift or as otherwise designated in accordance with agency policies.

The member will correctly discriminate between emergency / non-emergency calls and effectively prioritize calls for service according to agency policy.

The member operates the telephone console/switchboard, answering the calls in a courteous and professional manner, assisting callers as appropriate, determining the nature of the call and transferring the call to the appropriate personnel in accordance with agency policies.

The communications officer will correctly operate the 911 computer console ensuring that the appropriate agency responds to the caller or the appropriate personnel are dispatched to the scene in accordance with agency policies.

The member correctly and efficiently utilizes the twoway radio system according to agency policy and applicable standards to provide and maintain effective communications with agency personnel.

The member correctly and promptly dispatches appropriate unit(s) to respond to calls for service based on priority, location, and resource availability. The member provides/updates the responding unit and/or supervisors with all available pertinent information consistent with agency policies.

The member effectively disseminates information received over the National Warning System Terminal from FEMA and the National Weather Service to all appropriate personnel/agencies.

The communications officer will correctly receive, process, and complete requests for hit confirmation within 10 minutes and according to NCIC/FCIC rules/regulations and agency policies/procedures.

The member responds to Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles check requests, correctly retrieving and disseminating the requested information in a timely manner pursuant to applicable policies and regulations.

The member will carefully review bulletins, requests for service, and other information received from criminal justice agencies via teletype and will promptly take appropriate action as necessary, routing and dispersing the request to the appropriate personnel or assigning it to a subordinate/co-worker for follow up pursuant to agency policies/procedures and applicable state/federal rules/regulations.

The member notifies surrounding agencies of robberies and priority events in a timely manner consistent with agency policies with the goal of promoting Officer Safety and enhancing apprehension potential.
