GENERAL INFORMATION

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this program learner should be able to:

Discuss advocacy for mental health; summarize the history of the current mental health crisis in Iowa and the United States; evaluate models and solutions that could improve patient outcomes.

Review the management of disruptive behaviors in children.

Describe the role and purpose of hyperbarics when applied to a targeted patient population.

Discuss and review case examples of hoarding and selfneglect behaviors in the elderly.

Identify and discuss eating disorder etiologies, symptoms and treatment paths to recovery.

Compare and contrast alcohol and opioid withdrawal syndromes.

Describe the purpose and target population of the Crisis Stabilization Unit at UIHC.

Discuss the diagnosis and treatment of encephalopathy.

Describe ways inpatients can benefit with the use of yoga/ relaxation techniques

Nursing Credits: 7.0 contact hours will be granted by UI Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing (IBN Approved Provider #34). Participants must attend the entire program to receive full credit.

$69; $84 if postmarked after 10/17/2019 or received after the deadline with no postmark). The registration fee covers the cost of record keeping expenses, program materials, faculty expenses, CE recording, breaks and noon luncheon.
