AP Psychology Recommendations:

AP Psychology Recommendations:

AP Psychology was created by the College Board to be as rigorous as a college introductory psychology course. Students are often overwhelmed with the responsibility AP courses require. Here are some helpful tips to raise your grade and ensure you are getting the most out of the AP experience.

1 – READ! YOU HAVE HOMEWORK EVERY NIGHT! READ! Read the chapter more than once, taking notes or outline the chapter as you read.  See other comments about reading below.

2 - use the textbook website: choose your chapter, then work your way through the practice quizzes and flashcards.

3 – use the class website:

appopsych. It has all the Power Points in case you missed them, it has extra activities and links to supplement what we do in class. It was created and is continuously updated FOR YOU!

4 - make your own flashcards for each unit, color code them - it will make it easier to remember when you are reviewing for the final and the AP test. Your success relies on your knowledge of VOCABULARY.

5 - borrow a study guide book from me, then order one for yourself from Amazon.  (just search for Myers 8th edition study guide). You can get a study guide book specifically for the Myers textbook also recommended are any of the AP help books such as the Barron's Guide to AP psychology or 5 Steps to a 5. (all are available at or your local bookstore).

6 – participate in class. Asking questions and answering questions reinforces learning because it adds meaning to what is being said.

7 - perhaps the best advice I can give you is to ignore the block schedule and pretend that you have psychology every day.  Read a little every night, review a little every night (such as by rewriting your notes) - this will keep it fresh in your mind.  Try to stay ahead of me by reading ahead, that way when you hear me in class, you will already have heard of the concepts and you will be able to make stronger connections in class.

Last but not least, believe in yourself and stay dedicated, you will get out of the class what you put into it.
