JOINT HAZARD CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (JHCS) 1. The JHCS database is the official Department of Defense (DoD) database for final hazard classified ammunition and explosives. Defense Ammunition Center's U.S. Army Technical Center for Explosives Safety (USATCES) Directorate at McAlester, OK manages the JHCS for the Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board (DDESB). Comments, questions and suggestions regarding the JHCS should be submitted to US Army Defense Ammunition Center, 1 C Tree Road, Building 35, McAlester, OK 74501-9053. They may also be communicated via E-Mail to usarmy.mcalester.usamc.list.dac-hc@mail.mil or by DSN 956-8072 or commercial (918) 420-8072.

2. The JHCS is located in the Munitions History Program (MHP). The URL for MHP is: . A Common Access Card (CAC) or External Certification Authority program (ECA) is required to enter MHP. To access the JHCS module you must request permission through MHP. To request access to the JHCS module go to the MHP home page. Under the "Help" tab, select "request access". Complete the form and submit. Once you have access you can locate JHCS under the "DAC" tab".

NOTE: The JHCS is a listing of items containing Hazard Class 1 materials. Items with no Class 1 material will not normally be found in the JHCS. Some items in the JHCS may not be classified as a Hazard Class 1 due to an overriding predominant hazard of another class. These items with an overriding predominant hazard (e.g. 2.2) will still display a Storage Compatibility Group (SCG) code. This SCG code is provided to assist in the storage of the item with Hazard Class 1 items only and is to be ignored for transportation purposes.

SUPPLY CATEGORY of MATERIAL CODE (SCMC) (CLASSES of SUPPLIES) from DA Pam 708-2, 26 March 2020, Table 3-38

There are ten (10) CODES/CLASSES of supplies that are used to identify different basic categories of items. These basic categories are identified by either a Roman or Arabic character (I thru X or 1 thru 0/10) and it is the first of a two (2) position/character identification/authorization system. A number of "subclasses" (a second character) further identifies the kind of equipment the item is used on or the type of unit allowed to order it within each CODE/CLASS.
