|The purpose of the job is to positively promote the visibility, awareness and reputation of the RAF Benevolent Fund through proactive and|

|reactive media relations and general public relations activity. |

|2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: |

| |

|Generating positive media coverage, developing and delivering media plans for all RAFBF events, activities and programmes. |

|Working with the Head of Communications to deliver national and regional PR campaigns, working with external PR agencies where |

|appropriate. |

|Building effective working relationships and working proactively with Fundraising, Welfare and Regional teams as well as partnership |

|organisations to deliver relevant PR objectives. |

|Briefing RAFBF spokespeople and ambassadors to deliver effective media interviews. |

|Speech-writing on behalf of RAFBF senior management. |

|Working closely with Welfare colleagues to identify relevant case studies, writing up interviews and managing the case study database. |

|Working alongside the Online Communications Manager and Publications Officer to generate stories and relevant copy in support of on- and |

|off-line communications. |

|Managing the RAFBF website, digital and social media in the absence of the Online Communications Manager. |

|Producing interesting stories and features for a range of publications relevant to RAFBF audiences e.g. RAF News, RAF station magazines, |

|Third Sector, Aviation and Heritage sectors etc. |

|Building and maintaining relationships with useful media contacts. |

|Managing the media database. |

|Monitoring and evaluating RAFBF media coverage using the cuttings service to provide relevant management information. |

|Other such duties as may be required which fall within the purpose of the post. |

General Information:

You must not make any disclosure to any unauthorised person or use any confidential information relating to the business affairs of the Fund, unless expressly authorised to do so by Head of Secretariat who is the Data Protection Officer.

Risk Management

The Trustees of the Fund have adopted a policy of risk management which accords with Charity Commission requirements. Risk management is the responsibility of each member of staff.

Suggestions that might assist the Fund in meeting its objectives in a pragmatic and cost-effective way should be directed to your line manager or the Fund’s Risk Review Co-ordinator.

Conflict of Interests

You may not, without the consent of the Fund, engage in any outside employment. In accordance with the Staff Handbook, you must declare to your line manager any private interest or voluntary/public duties which could potentially result in personal gain as a consequence of your employment with the Fund. Interests that might appear to be in conflict should also be declared.

Place of Work

You may be required to work on the Fund’s alternative sites from time to time.
