SELF PUBLISHING SERVICES A LIFE IN LYRICS Michael Kabelo Mbele

Give life to your manuscript

BK Publishing is a vibrant publishing house in the heart of Pretoria. With over 10 years of experience in the publishing industry and a collection of wonderful, original publications to our name, we are now offering indie

publishing services under the imprint Preflight Books. Preflight Books is perfectly positioned to provide established publishers, aspiring authors and self-publishers the services they need to bring their manuscripts to life.

My name is Raymond. Until recently I was just a normal boy. Well, besides the fact that I grew up wearing a copper bracelet and a malachite collar. When I moved to Johannesburg though, everything changed. I found out that I had a dark side and that I had enemies. Enemies that wanted to destroy me

and others like me. I need to find a way to stop them. I need to get

control of my dark side. I need help...

In a universe filled with war and mystical creatures, Raymond embarks on a journey to discover his true identity

and to tame his dark side. During his journey he meets a mermaid, gets tangled up in a love triangle, is taken prisoner,

finds his ancestors, and is dragged into the worst war the universe has ever seen. The war of Gog and Magog.

Will Raymond discover his destiny? Will he be able to stop the war of Gog and Magog?

Frequently Asked Questions

What is self-publishing?

The phenomenon of self-publishing is growing very quickly for a number of reasons. Authors find it attractive because it allows them to be in full control of their work. They are responsible and in control of the entire process, including design, format, price, distribution and marketing. It is also possible to outsource all of these processes, but the author stays in control of all the decisions.

A self-published author is responsible for all costs of production and printing, as well as the marketing and distribution of their books. Therefore, the finished copies, the copyright, all subsidiary rights, and all money received from sales belong to the author exclusively.

Is my manuscript worth publishing?

If it is your dream to see your book published or if you just want your book in physical form on your bookcase, your manuscript is worth publishing. We do require that your manuscript be finished, your original work and that you be happy with what you have written. You do not have to want to make profit from your book to publish it.

Traditional publishers are hesitant to publish manuscripts by first-time authors because of unpredictable sales. We offer you the chance to test your book's sales potential by initially self-publishing in small quantities.

How much will it cost to publish my book?

Each publishing project has its unique aspects, and we tailor a quotation and publishing plan around the author's needs.

How many books should I print?

Depending on the intent for your manuscript, you can publish anything from 50 copies. If you wish to sell your book to a large audience, you can start with 100 copies to test the waters. If you sell out, you can always ask for a reprint. Keep in mind that the more copies you publish, the cheaper the printing costs will be per unit.

Will you distribute and sell my book?

We do not offer marketing or distribution services, but we will provide advice and guidance. We can load your book onto e-book platforms where it will be available for sale as an e-book.

How long does it take to publish a book?

Every project is unique. Depending on the type of manuscript, amount of words and illustrations, it can take from 4 to 16 weeks to publish a book.

How do I ask for a quote?

When asking for a quotation, please answer the following questions so that we can produce an accurate costing:

1. What is the title of your work? 2. What type of book is it? (Genre) 3. How many pages do you have in

Microsoft Word? 4. What is the total word count of your

Word document? 5. Do you require editing and/or

proofreading? 6. Do you require a blurb to be written

for the back cover? 7. Do you require a cover design? 8. Do you require illustrations? If so, in

full colour, or in black and white? 9. Do you want your book to have a

hard cover or a soft cover? 10. What size book would you like to

print? (A6/A5, landscape/portrait)

11. On which kind of paper would you like to print? (Glossy or matte)

12. How many copies would you like to print?

13. Do you want an e-book? 14. Do you have any special requests?

(Transcription, translation etc.)

In what format must I submit my manuscript?

Please submit your manuscript in Microsoft Word format. Please include a cover page with all your personal details, as well as a synopsis of your manuscript. Please note that the number of pages you submit will change once published. Please adhere to the following formatting guidelines:

? 12 point Times New Roman ? 1,5 line spacing ? Bold titles, headings and

sub-headings.
