A sentence may be one of four kinds, depending upon the number and type(s) of clauses it contains.

        Review:

Punctuation note: NO commas separate compound elements (subject, verb, direct object, indirect object, subjective complement, etc.) in a simple sentence.

When two independent clauses are joined by a comma in writing, this is called a ___________________________! AVOID THEM!!! THIS IS INCORRECT GRAMMAR!!!!!

  For example: I went to the park to see who was there, the children were swinging on the swings.
