USE OF TEST: DNA fingerprinting bacterial isolates for outbreak and epidemiologic investigations.
TEST PERFORMED: Houghton/Monday-Friday.
*NOTE* Cultures for organisms other than S. aureus should be forwarded to the MDCH laboratory in Lansing.
ANALYTIC TIME: One-three weeks.
INTERPRETATION: Isolates are either the same strain, genetically related, or are different strains.
SPECIMEN TYPE: Pure bacterial isolates of methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA).
