FEEDING PUPPIES

The puppies have been fed as follows –

Breakfast - CP 27 (CSJ)

Lunch - CP 27 (CSJ)

Tea - CP 27 (CSJ)

As an alternative you can give the puppy a baked egg custard for supper, in place of a meal of one of the complete foods.

These are a guide; you can swap meals around to suit yourself, providing you follow the basic pattern I have given you.

But whichever way you feed, please make certain that the puppy has at least three meals of CP27,Purina Pro plan puppy, Royal Canin or Beta puppy/Junior a day.

Quantities: - The puppies are at present eating approx. 1/4 of a cup of the puppy food per meal, it can be either fed dry or soaked in warm water for about an hour before feeding, but they are eating it dry.

These are approximate quantities as I feed the puppies altogether so it is a little difficult to know exactly how much each individual puppy is eating.

A very easy guide to know if you are feeding too much “the puppy will have a runny tummy.”

The puppies have been carefully reared to give them the best start in life so please try to follow my suggestions as they are from experience. Please do not permit your veterinary surgeon to change the diet of your puppy. I have many years of experience breeding/rearing Gundogs (they may not) and I know what is and what is not suitable to rear this breed on correctly, especially to produce the correct bone and substance for the puppy.

SO PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OTHER FOODS THAN THOSE LISTED ABOVE. IF YOU DO, YOU MAY END UP WITH A VERY DIFFICULT AND FUSSY EATER.

Dogs do not need a variety of foods, as their taste buds are completely different to ours.

Please do not add any supplements to the puppys food (despite what well-meaning people may tell you!) the food which you have been given are specially formulated foods and contain all the minerals and vitamins that your puppy needs to grow at the correct pace. If you add extra supplements you can do serious damage to young joints and bones.

Please remember to increase food as they grow. There is a very good guide on the bag.

I once had someone follow my instructions to the letter and did not increase the pup’s food! Then wondered why it was crying so much at sixteen weeks – it was starving!

Any of the feeds are propriety brand feeds and are easily obtainable from any good pet food supplier.
