Queensland BaptistsDirector of QB ServicesAbout usQB Services is part of the QB Movement which is a committed community of Queensland Baptist churches and their ministries working alongside and with each other under Christ to serve the mission of God throughout Queensland and beyond. QB Services encompasses all the service ministries that the QB Movement has established. “Services” was chosen because it denotes that the purpose of all these ministries is to provide services to strengthen our churches and our mission. QB Services is a diverse group of collaborative, specialist ministries that through Christ exist to support, equip and empower the QB Movement with a significant engagement with churches.The vision of QB Services is: “Driven by a passionate commitment to serve the QB Movement and to see it flourish, QB Services will collaborate together to first provide effective equipping and resources that will assist churches to function healthily, mission effectively and disciple intentionally; and second to mission strategically on behalf of the QB Movement.”This vision calls for three major thrusts for QB Services over the next five years:Greater collaboration between Service Groups (in order to function more biblically, efficiently, creatively and cooperatively);Stronger proactive resourcing for churches by all Service groups, especially in the areas of health, mission and discipleship; andA developing strategic mission emphasis in all the Service Groups that minister on behalf of the QB Movement. The Director of QB Services is appointed by the QB Assembly for a term of up to five years. On a positive recommendation from the QB Board, this term may be renewed by Assembly. The Director of QB Services can serve for a maximum of 15 years. The role is full-time and will be based at the QB Centre. The role will include occasional travel throughout Queensland. This is a significant leadership role, overseeing and supporting some large and influential service organisations as well as leading the Church Support Services team. The Director of QB Services is a member of the QB Board.The key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:Seeking God’s will and wisdom for QB Services through the leading of the Word and the Holy Spirit.Working with the QB Services Leadership Team, the Director of the QB Movement and the QB Board to develop QB Services’ goals and strategic plans that will support the achievement of the QB Services’ vision. Progressing the strategic plans of the QB Services group. Leading and providing accountability for the QB Services Leadership Team and maintaining the alignment of the Service Groups.Providing direct leadership and oversight to the Church Support Team (Pastoral Services, Church Health Services, Professional Standards and Church Planting groups), the Director of Administrative Services, and the Communications Manager.Liaising with churches and pastors in the delivery of relevant services through QB Services and the Regional Ministers’ Network.Ensuring the effective operation and delivery of services to QB churches.Overseeing the management of the QB Services budget and finances. Participating as a member of the QB Board.About who we are looking forExperience and skillsWe are looking for a person who has significant experience as a Christian manager and leader through a proven record in effectively managing and developing a significant ministry, church or organisation.In addition, we want the person to have:strong biblical knowledge and understanding;strong ability to network and collaborate with other leaders; proven ability to supervise and manage a team of capable leaders;proven ability to develop and implement vision;excellent management skills;proven ability to oversee a significant budget;excellent interpersonal communication skills; andexperience in working with pastors and churches.Personal characteristics and commitmentsWe are looking for a person who:loves God and displays the biblical qualities of an elder;has a heart for Queensland Baptists and a passion to see the QB Movement grow;supports and embraces the vision and values of the QB Movement and the vision of QB Services;understands church culture and context and can relate to a wide range of church contexts; effectively negotiates pressure and conflict while maintaining emotional health; can function healthily in a collaborative team with other capable leaders; andis committed to membership in a local Baptist church.Key Selection Criteria Applicants are required to provide a statement addressing the following key selection criteria, in addition to providing a resume.Demonstrated heart for loving, obeying and serving Jesus shown in personal relationship with God, serving others, growing Christian character, use of spiritual gifts, personal mission, and commitment to a local church.Demonstrated proven experience in effectively leading and managing a complex ministry, church or organisation through development and implementation of vision, and change management. Demonstrated proven experience in building teams including developing trust and commitment within a team setting, addressing conflict, and building accountability.Demonstrated ability to network with and build strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders and staff.Demonstrated organisational management skills including the ability to oversee budgets, implement strategic plans, effectively prioritise competing demands, and delegate responsibilities and tasks to appropriate staff.Demonstrated experience in pastoral ministry or the support of pastors and churches.Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.Why you should work with usThe Director of QB Services provides an opportunity for a gifted godly leader to exercise their gifting in a Movement that is ready for and anticipating fresh vision and growth with a supportive Board.
