|About the university |UMY was established in March 1981 as part of Muhammadiyah Higher Institutions. UMY is a wise |

|Academic calendar |It is divided in two terms: |

|PRACTICAL INFORMATION |

|Visa |Students will have to apply for a student visa. Please note that a tourist visa is not enough to |

| |stay in Indonesia for over one month. |

| |For full-time Student (4 years) and Exchange Program (6 months-1 years) |

| |They supposed to use Limited Stay Permit Visa (ITAS). The Process to require ITAS that are: |

| |The student may come to Indonesia by using VKSB or Vitas |

| |UMY Propose the Student Permit to DIKTI; and |

| |Conversion process from VKSB/Vitas to ITAS can be done when the Student Permit from DIKTI was |

| |done. |

| |Conversion process of ITK to ITAS would be 2-3 month |

| |Conversion process of Vitas to ITAS would be 7 days |

| |For Exchange Program (3-6 months) |

| |The visa used for the student who stay only for 3-6 month is Social Cultural Visa (VKSB). The |

| |process for acquiring the VKSB only need to bring the recommendation letter and letter of |

| |acceptance from UMY to Indonesian Embassy in their country. VKSB can be valid until 6-month |

| |maximum but it must be extended every month. |

|Housing |The University provide accommodation service directly in University Residence for all |

| |International Students. Student who take Full Time Study the dormitory will free for one year. The|

|Integration activities |The International students will have several activities in term of learning both Indonesia Culture|

| |and Language (Bahasa) and city tour. |

|Buddies activities |UMY will pair a local student with an international student to assist with such things as dorm |

| |check-in, enrolment, general class registration, and other essential activities. International |

| |students will adapt to life in Indonesia easier through the guidance of local students. Also, they|

| |can exchange each other’s culture and language. |

|Private Overseas |All foreign students need to purchase their own overseas insurance, which includes health and |

|Insurance |accident coverage for the study period, in their home country before departure. UMY only provide |

| |clinic for small injury. |

|Living in Yogyakarta |Yogyakarta (simply called as Jogja) is located on the heartland of island of Java, Yogyakarta is |

| |the only province in Indonesia that is still governed by a monarch. Yogyakarta is the second |

| |largest tourism area in Indonesia and one of the most culturally vibrant cities not only in |

| |Indonesia but also in Asia. There is countless tourism spot within Yogyakarta including historical|

| |sites, museums, mountains, ancient temples, beaches, river for rafting, etc. Yogyakarta will offer|

| |an extraordinary experience for the student. |
