Minutes:

▪ Minutes

o Approve August 26, Conference Call minutes:

▪ Need to update Cindy John’s company (see e-mail).

▪ Motion to accept: Rob Savage, Brian Pech

• Against: 0; Abstain: 4; In Favor: 13

o Rio WG minutes are still in progress – will be done before Cambridge

▪ Immunization Update – Rob Savage

o We reviewed the comments from PHER and Australia related to the PID/OBX proposal ().

o Base on the discussion we concluded that the document changes should be adjusted as follows:

▪ Move the references to the implementation guide to the end of the explanations. There are different views on the role of implementation guides, particularly as some would like to see the standard be more explicit, while others are concerned that may not allow for multiple use cases as easily. Making the statement later would help focus on the standard first and point to further implementation guidance once the standard has been described.

▪ Adjust the two bulleted list to be context specific. While we reached understanding of the different purposes of the respective OBX-s, the bullet lists as they are using the exact same words give the impression they still serve the same purpose. Adjusting terminology to be more context specific so the lists look different will help.

o Once the updates are made, we’ll bring the document back for review and make sure that Australian representation has been alerted to the agenda topic (date, time, etc.).

▪ Blood Bank Update – Jonathan Harber

o The objective was to finalize a motion to accept these V2.8 Proposals. To that end the focus was one any final questions/concerns.

o Did the team consider AIM vs. AL1? It seemed AL1 was not only sufficient but that the added capabilities of AIM are not yet anticipated. However, if they are needed we would have to deprecate message structures. So the team will revisit just to make sure.

o While OBR was included, TQ1/TQ2 is not. Was that on purpose?

▪ There is not a known use case that requires timing/quantity.

▪ Agreed to rename segment groups that are named Order Begin to something else as it would otherwise expect ORC, TQ1, and TQ2 segments as well.

o The DSC segment does not have to be there. It is by convention (Chapter 2) always allowed to be used in any message.

o Note that V2.7 has extra length column in the Segment Tables and color coding (both segment table and message structure). We should follow that considering V2.8 is after V2.7.

o There will be some harmonizations with Vocab and InM.

o There were some questions on the use of CNE to ensure that the value lists are exhaustive since they cannot be locally extended (CNE constraint).

▪ Comfortable that they were appropriately assigned.

▪ Also for Universal? Concern that the definition of Universal is still in a state of flux. We believe that everything can be mapped, but won’t know until final ballot.

o Suggestion is made to include a reference that unit value sets are derived from UCUM and check that values actually met.

o Motion to accept proposal for inclusion in V2.8 as amended in the call. Austin Kreisler, Jonathan Harber

▪ Need to ensure that all event IDs, etc. are pre-allocated to allow for pre-adoption.

▪ Suggest to amend that implementation guide is not finalized until segment IDs are committed to (InM, Vocab, and Publishing).

▪ Is UCUM required? Only stating that the valid set is derived from UCUM, not that the full set of UCUM is available and only UCUM.

▪ Against: 0; Abstain: 2; In Favor: 15 (John Roberts not on WebEx)

▪ Steering Division Election – Austin Kreisler

o Greg Seppalla was elected

▪ Micro-Biology Project – Austin Kreisler

o Austin anticipates TSC clarification requests considering Universal/Realm Specific criteria.

o There are currently 4 defined in draft, but not clear how many need to be met for a project to be considered Universal.

o Rational for Universal approach is to take the Canadian implementation and harmonize concept domains, so need to operate on the Universal level.

o Problem is that criteria may not support that.

o Patrick and Austin to create the arguments in support of Universal. May need to update on who represents US Realm or other non-Canadian Realm. Rob will join as well.

▪ Composite Order Model – Patrick Loyd

o Not discussed.

▪ October WGM Agenda

o
