EGG-BABY PROJECT: RESPONSIBILITIES

DATES OF CARING FOR AN EGG-BABY:

CONTAINER: YOU MUST PROVIDE A COMFORTABLE AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR YOUR EGG-BABY(‘S). IT MUST BE AN OPEN CONTAINER AND BE READY FOR THE HALLWAYS AND CLASSROOMS IN LMS.

BOY/GIRL??: SEX AND NUMBER OF BABIES WILL BE PULLED OUT OF A SPECIAL CONTAINER.. EACH “STUDENT” MUST DECORATE THEIR BABY WITH AN INFANT/CHILD THEME. CREATIVITY IS ENCOURAGED.

DURING SCHOOL HOURS: THE BABY MUST BE WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES DURING SCHOOL TIME HOURS. THE ONLY EXCEPTION WOULD BE DURING PHYS. ED. CLASSES; WHERE YOU MUST PUT YOUR CHILD IN FOR A ‘NAP’ AT YOUR LOCKER (SAFE ZONE). IF A TEACHER SEES THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR CHILD WITH YOU OR THAT YOU ARE NOT TAKING CARE OF IT; THEY WILL TELL ME AND I WILL TAKE OFF MARKS.

OTHER CLASSROOMS: EVERY TEACHER HAS DIFFERENT RULES FOR THEIR CLASSROOMS. YOU MUST RESPECT AND FOLLOW OTHER TEACHERS RULES FOR WHERE THE EGGS WILL BE IN THEIR CLASSROOMS.

ABUSE/NEGLECT OF EGG-BABY: IF AN EGG-BABY BECOMES CRACKED OR BROKEN BEYOND REPAIR DURING THE PROJECT, THE STUDENT WILL BE GIVEN AN EGG-BABY ACCIDENT REPORT TO FILL OUT FOR EACH INCIDENT THAT OCCURS TO YOUR EGG-BABY.

IF ANOTHER PERSON (OTHER THAN THE STUDENT/PARENT) INTENTIONALLY BREAKS THE EGG, THEN Ms. Lapointe WILL INVESTIGATE AND EVALUATE THE SITUATION (YOU WILL STILL HAVE TO WRITE AN ACCIDENT REPORT!).

IF TOTALLY DAMAGED, THE STUDENT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY OF THE EGG WILL REPLACE THE EGG BY THE NEXT DAY, TO CONTINUE WITH THE DURATION OF THE PROJECT. EACH EGG-BABY MUST BE SIGNED BY Ms. Lapointe FOR AUTHENTICITY DURING THE PROJECT.

JOURNAL: JOURNAL WRITING’S WILL BE ASSIGNED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PROJECT. YOU WILL BE GIVEN 10-15 MINUTES AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS TO FILL THEM OUT. ALL JOURNALS ENTRIES (6) WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE FINAL PROJECT.

GRADING: POINT VALUES FOR EACH PART OF THE PROJECT WILL BE GIVEN TO EACH STUDENT.

JOURNAL ENTRY: MY BIRTH

For us to know about our birth, we need to ask certain questions.

If you live with a birth parent, interview the person who can best answer these questions.

1. Where was your place of birth? (city, hospital, etc.)

2. What was your time of birth? (weather, historical events at this time)

3. Where were your parents when labour began?

4. How long was labour?

5. Who was present? (family, doctors, friends, siblings, others)

6. What was your weight at birth?

7. Did anything unusual occur?

8. How was your name chosen?

9. What were the first 6 months like? First year?

10. Ask the question you would like to know about birth and early childhood, such as diseases, first steps, first words, etc.

11. What sources of information about yourself are available to you? For example: baby books, family records, albums, photos, traditional stories, etc.

If you are adopted or do not live with a birth parent, interview the person who can best answer these questions.

1. What do your guardians know about your birth?

a. Where was it?

b. Time? What was happening in the world at that time?

c. Weight? Length?

2. What was it like the first time they saw you? How long had they known you were coming to live with them?

3. Ask about the day you came to live with them?

4. What were your first 6 months together? First year?

5. What can they tell you about your name?

6. What do they know about your early life? (first words, childhood illnesses, etc.)

7. What sources of information about yourself are available to you? For example: baby books, family records, photographs, etc.

Use this sheet to take notes but re-write (or re-type) all the questions and answers for your report on a separate sheet.
