TIPS FOR MAKING A QUIET BOOK

1. When you cut the panel into pages, DO NOT throw away the instructions--you'll need these!

2. The cover is often a larger size than the interior pages. Don't be tempted to cut these down.

3. You can use fusible fleece, Bosal foam, or batting inside of your book, but sew a test to be sure you're happy with the thickness and how your machine handles it.

4. Crinkle material can be added to the cover, interior pages, or additional 3D pieces of any soft book. This does add noise--so it will no longer be a "quiet book"!

5. Even if a soft book panel includes additional pieces or 3D elements, they are optional.

6. Pay special attention to the numbering and layout of the pages in the instructions printed on the panel when you are assembling the book to be sure the story reads correctly.

7. Clip the corners before turning right side out. Use the eraser end of a pencil or a chopstick to poke out the corners.

8. When assembling your soft book, if the center interior page does not have a color change between left and right pages to follow as a stitch line, use a ruler and disappearing marking pen to draw your stitch line.
