MESSAGE FROM EL CAMINO COLLEGE SUPERINTENDENT/PRESIDENT

Congratulations to our newest alumni, the Class of 2018! You have accomplished an enormous amount, and you have infinite potential for a bright future. As you reflect on your time at El Camino College and prepare to move forward, remember to take with you the knowledge and experiences that only a college education can provide. Your college education prepares you to think critically, communicate effectively, analyze and reason, organize information and use it to solve problems, understand the world around you and contribute to your community. These are skills that will serve you well no matter where your life takes you after you leave El Camino College. While commencement is a celebration of your success and provides an opportunity for family and friends to acknowledge your hard work, please know that the hard work doesn't stop here. As you continue along your journey, always seek opportunities to excel. In so doing, you will inspire others and lead the way for those who follow in your footsteps. You have the ability to influence others through your accomplishments, and your belief in the power of education. Our students are the main source of pride at El Camino College. The determination, drive and discipline you demonstrate as you pursue your goals is truly inspiring. Congratulations on your success! I wish you all the best in your future!

ABOUT EL CAMINO COLLEGE

El Camino College offered its first classes in 1947 with fewer than 500 students and 30 faculty members. Today El Camino College boasts more than 33,000 students taught by nearly 1,000 full- and part-time faculty. Through the college's comprehensive academic and career technical programs, its outstanding athletics, and its fine arts programs, there are few residents of our community who cannot claim some association with El Camino College over the past 71 years! Providing quality educational opportunities for every segment of the community has always been the college's primary mission. With 2,500 different classes offered in more than 180 degree or certificate programs, El Camino College has something for everyone. Since our founding, hundreds of thousands of students have completed their transfer or career goals at El Camino College. Businesses are able to meet today's demand for excellence through their workforce and products via customized classes provided by El Camino College's Center for Applied Competitive Technologies, Workplace Learning Resource Center, and Small Business Development Center. The success El Camino College has enjoyed for 71 years is in large part due to dedicated community involvement and industry partnerships. In planning for the future, El Camino College is anticipating the needs of our diverse and complex communities. The college's ability to respond to those needs--developing the technology and the infrastructure to provide leadership to our community for the next 71 years--will ensure we maintain our place as one of California's premier community colleges.
