SYSTEM SUMMARY

Gadsden County currently operates a Phase II compliant Positron Viper System with two Public Safety

Answering Points (PSAP). One primary (4 positions), one backup (2 positions and 2 Portables).

9.19.1.1

GADSDEN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE PRIMARY PSAP

The Quincy PSAP is located in the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office which is in the W. A. Woodham

Justice Center Quincy, Florida and is serving Gadsden County, a portion of Decatur County, Georgia and

a small portion of Liberty County, Florida and direct dispatches calls for the Sheriff's Department, Gretna

Police and Midway Police. Calls for Havana, Quincy and Chattahoochee Police are transferred via

telephone. The Quincy PSAP Dispatches for Greensboro, Robertsville-St. Johns, Midway, Wetumpka,

Havana, Sycamore, Concord, Chattahoochee, Mt. Pleasant, Gretna, Quincy Fire Departments By paging

system.

For agencies other than those direct dispatched are relayed. Calls originating in the Tallahassee 385,6 and 575,6 central office areas are selectively routed to the Sheriff's Department PSAP by the Leon County E9-1-1 system.

9.19.1.2

GADSDEN COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE BACKUP PSAP

The backup PSAP is activated only upon evacuation or E911 system failures and/or training exercises; and additionally, serves as a training facility for 911 public safety Telecommunicators. It is in Quincy's Fire Station Number One.

9.19.2

SYSTEM MANAGEMENT

The Gadsden County E911 system is operated by the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office and is under the management of the 911 Coordinator. The call takers are employed and under the management of the elected Gadsden County Sheriff. The responsible fiscal agent is the Board of County Commissioners and is managed by the Clerk's Office.
