Salary/Grade Scale: Band 4 - £19,502 - £22,458 pro rata

Your salary will be paid into your bank account on the last Friday of each month.

Hours of Work: 30 hours per week

Annual Leave: Leave year is from April – March

30 days (225 hours) on commencing employment

32 days (240 hours) after 5 years’ service

For part time staff, this will be applied on a pro-rata basis and also allocated in hours.

Public Holidays: Entitlement is 37.5 hours based on the 5 designated Public Holidays per annum, and on a 5 day week working 7.5 hours per day. The 37.5 hours entitlement is due to all whole time staff irrespective of work pattern.

For part time staff, this will be applied on a pro-rata basis and also allocated in hours.

Pensions The Company will comply with the employer pension duties in accordance with Part 1 of the Pensions Act 2008 by automatically enrolling you where eligibility criteria is met, in the Group Personal Pension Plan.

The Hospice provides a generous employer contribution of 7.5% of your salary per month provided a minimum 2.5% employee contribution is made.

|2. JOB PURPOSE |

|As a member of the Communications Department, the Communications & Research Officer is responsible for assisting with the delivery of effective |

|communications as part of the communications strategy for the Ayrshire Hospice. This will ensure excellent integrated communications with patients and |

|families, donors and supporters, employed and voluntary staff, other partner organisations, the general public and the media, supporting the vision, aims |

|and objectives of the hospice. The postholder is responsible for the implementation and delivery of specific communication plans and projects and for |

|providing communications advice and expertise for all levels of employed and voluntary staff in the hospice, as well as external audiences. |

|The Communications Officer will support the Head of Communications in: |

|Promoting greater recognition and understanding of the work of the hospice by patients, their families/carers, the community, businesses and other |

|healthcare organisations/professionals. |

|Facilitating greater patient/ carer involvement and access to services from all parts of our diverse community. |

|Delivering promotion campaigns and marketing activities that raise awareness and understanding of hospice services and fundraising initiatives to maximise |

|Developing and maintaining an effective internal communication framework that encourage employed and voluntary staff to be feel valued, involved, informed |

|The Communications & Research Officer will also provide fundraising managers with on-demand research support, intelligence and analysis on potential and |

|actual donors to Ayrshire Hospice, one day a week. This will include research of both individuals and organisations, identifying potential new donors |

|capable of making major gifts. The role does not involve asking for donations. |

|The Communications & Research Officer works across the organisation, working closely with staff at all levels. Regular contact is made with managers and |

|employed and voluntary staff in obtaining information for publications and providing information to staff and volunteers at all levels, in multiple |

|The Communications & Research Officer will work occasionally with patients and families obtaining their stories and experiences for use in media activity |

|establishing and maintaining sustainable relationships to benefit hospice income generation and marketing initiatives; |

|communicating the value of the hospice both locally and nationally to raise awareness and promote services as a leading provider of specialist palliative |

|financial governance, delivering efficient and well controlled financial operations; |

|all reporting and annual returns to Companies House, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, The Gambling |

|Commission and the external auditor, reflecting the organisation’s financial compliance with legislation and standards; |

|the day to day financial management of the hospice including the formulation, implementation and monitoring of departmental budgets. |

|The directorate works closely with colleagues in the other departments and external stakeholders to improve hospice services for the population of Ayrshire|

|& Arran, and to ensure alignment of local financial, clinical service, workforce and capital plans with the organisational fundraising strategy and income |

|generation targets. This is achieved in an open and facilitative way to secure their trust and support. |

|Proactively and reactively liaise with a variety of local and regional media outlets to obtain a high level of coverage for hospice services and |

|Contribute to a media database to allow more accurate distribution of media releases and a media calendar that will facilitate the advance planning on |

|of our internal communications and that staff are kept up to date and well informed about the services and issues affecting the hospice. In particular the|

|Organise meetings and events along with road shows and campaigns in order to publicise the activities of the hospice. |
