Acquisition Information / Provenance: Sexton family photographs and documents were donated to the library by Ralph and his wife Christine Sexton. The majority of the collection can be attributed to the father Waldo Sexton who settled in Indian River County about 1914.

Historical Note

Waldo E. Sexton was an entrepreneur who traveled to many places and collected items for his unusual buildings located in Vero Beach, Florida. He was named to the list of "Great Floridians" in SEX 02-0 by the Florida Department of State. Born in Shelby County, Indiana, he graduated from high school and attended Purdue University.

In 1918, Waldo Sexton married Elsebeth Adelina Martens in Jacksonville, Florida. He had four children: Mary Jacqueline Sexton, married Jack Daley; Barbara Louise Sexton married John Robert Tripson; Ralph Waldo Sexton married 1) Hildegard Barrett, 2) Carol Wetherby, 3) Janet Christine
