(pages 116-141) The objectives in Unit 2 Lesson 2 include: Making requests and recommendations; expressing opinions; and talking about the media and community. These objectives are completed along with the following grammar topics: pronouns with commands, impersonal expressions + infinitive, and impersonal expressions with “se”.

In-Class Activities: Review vocabulary from this chapter. Hand out vocabulary crossword. Review of Rules for Accents and Word Stress with presentation and examples. Complete Accents Practice #3. (Students listen to 12 random words pronounced in Spanish, and determine whether or not an accent is necessary)

Homework: finish crossword if not completed in class

In-Class Activities: “Miáucoles” internet meme. Complete translation and close activities associated with this week’s miáucoles internet meme, which are real Spanish commercials (video clips) relating to safe driving skills - emphasizes command forms and placement of pronouns on affirmative and negative commands. Review of Rules for Accents and Word Stress. Complete Accents Activity #4. Students listen to 12 random words in Spanish, and determine if and where an accent is needed.

In-Class Activities: Review of Rules for Accents and Word Stress. Complete Accents Activity #5. Students listen to 12 random words in Spanish, and determine if and where an accent is needed. Continue review of chapter vocabulary. Complete reading and listening comprehension activities in class. Students match vocabulary words with corresponding expressions (requires reading comprehension, not just matching words); students listen to 2 people speaking in Spanish, using the chapter vocabulary, and answer comprehension questions.
