It is comprised of nine municipalities with the borough of Doylestown being the largest population center and county seat. The district is the third largest school district in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is the largest suburban school district in the state. District enrollment for the 2017-2018 is just over 17,800 students. The district has 15 elementary schools (K-6), 5 middle schools (7-9), and 3 senior high schools (10-12). Central Bucks High School South, opened for the school year 2004-05, is the newest and largest of the three high schools, hosting an enrollment of 1,735 students. Curriculum Central Bucks High School South operates under a block-scheduling model. There are four, 90-minute instructional periods per day. Classes are generally classified into one of the following areas: Advanced Placement, Honors, Academic, or Special Education. Career and technology education is offered at Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT), with programs including 10 career clusters and 22 career pathways. Grades, Weight and Ranking CBSD does not report class rank (we will provide rank for scholarship purposes). Grading is on a 4.0 scale. Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth Grade students may earn additional quality points through weighted Honors and AP courses. AP courses are weighted by 1.0 (ex: an A=5.0), and Honors courses are weighted by .25 (ex: an A = 4.25).
