SUMMER CONFERENCE 2003

WELCOME

[pic]

MS ACTE PRESIDENT, RICKEY RED

Welcome to the 28th Annual Mississippi Association of Career and Technical Education Summer Conference.

Linda and the officers have worked hard to offer you a conference that will motivate and educate each of you. I hope that you will take full advantage of the opportunities before you this week.

I believe that Career and Technical Education (CTE) is truly the best Mississippi has to offer our students. For many of us, CTE has made us what we are today in the professional world. ACTE not only offers the best hope for true education reform, it offers the best hope for improving student performance K-12.

I hope those of you who are not ACTE members will strongly consider paying your dues and supporting our cause. ACTE is the voice of CTE in the state of Mississippi and the United States.

I believe as educators we should strive to better ourselves by working with academic teachers to help our students achieve great things. At the same time, it is important that we realize the important role each of us plays in sculpting the lives of each and every student we come in contact with. We must stand firm in our beliefs that CTE plays a vital role in developing the leaders of our great nation.

Again, I hope you enjoy this year’s conference and feel free to approach your officers about how you can become more involved in MS ACTE.

May God bless us in this coming school year.
