Summative Assessment #2: Rewrite using a different view point

Summative Assessment CHOICE #1:

Rewrite point of view as a narrative

Write a portion of the story from a different character’s point of view.

Choose an important event in the novel. Perhaps choose an event such as when Steven learns Jeffrey is sick, or when Steven confronts his dad about the way he is acting toward Steven, or when Jeffrey undergoes treatment. You can choose any event from the story.

The first part of the assignment you will write in an expository format. The second part will be in a narrative format.

Part 1:

Write the first paragraph with the following information:

▪ Explain the scene you chose and the pages it is on

▪ Explain why you chose this scene

▪ Explain the point of view the scene is told from and whose point of view you will tell it from

▪ Include why you are going to write the scene from your chosen character’s point of view.

Part 2:

Rewrite the scene from a different character’s point of view.

This should be no shorter than a page and no longer than 2 pages. Your goal is to put yourself in another character’s shoes and see the scene unfold from their eyes. The outcome might be different than in our story.
