EDUC 490 - Giving Students A Purpose And Voice In Learning (CRN 21306) ? In this 3 credit hour course, participants will be introduced to and will explore the instructional technology methods implemented by the leading discussion platform of FlipGrid. Teachers will create a Grid community for their classroom, school, and/or PLC. As the educator, you are the Topic designer with specialized resources and attachments. Back-to-school intros, booktalks, reflections, expert Q&As, showcase STEAM ideas...the possibilities are endless for students to verbalize their learning! Every student has a voice, so let's amplify!

Format- One day onsite with additional project(s) conducted within the teachers' classroom or school.

EDUC 490 Developing a Trauma Sensitive Classroom (CRN 21307) - This 3 credit hour course will provide participants with information about developing a trauma sensitive classroom. Participants will be given strategies and lesson ideas to utilize in the classroom to help students become more aware of their emotions and feelings.

Format- One day onsite with additional project(s) conducted within the teachers' classroom or school.

EDUC 490- Mental Disorders Seen within the Classroom (CRN 21308) -- With the increase in the prevalence of mental disorders, it is important for teachers to be knowledgeable about these very complex disorders, including how these disorders are diagnosed and treated. Awareness of possible behavioral problems, sleep issues, medication, and other strategies that will assist teachers in properly attending and teaching students with these types of disorders who may need special assistance, in their classroom. This course will provide information about Mental Disorders, such as anxiety, depression, ODD, Conduct Disorder, Tourette syndrome, PTSD. As will as, treatment approaches, and strategies for both the special and general education classroom.

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the characteristics of mental disorders. 2. Understanding the many different intervention options. 3. Learn different strategies to use in the classroom to help these students to be as successful as possible.
